to be honest its not really rocket science to say once a month, check the lights and levels, maybe kick the tyres. but people dont do these things. then the car is in our work shop with problems. and we say 'when did you last check your oil' answer 'never!'

Excuse me, you know you've only got one brake light working?
"Oh, it's OK, the MOT's in two months, they'll sort it then..."

How do services costs at MB and Jaguar compare to service rates at other brands?  Maybe the "premium" brands such as MB and Jaguar rates are higher and can cover the video costs, but not all brands.
Seat do it according to another poster here now.
Back to the point raised by another - "GDPR" a

I work for a peugeot main dealer and if one of our guys sent a customers car out with the oil cap missing, there would be some serious questions asked 1st thing monday am. its a stupid schoolboy error, when you consider how much main dealers charge per hour these days.
Questions like ' did you do this to make us and you look awful'?  People do make mistakes!  Indeed, they need to be made aware of it but "questions first thing," I must have a little chukkle.

The MB people always send a video of the underside of the car being expected so what happens to your "GDPR"?? This is done  before you normally pay ie in your email, inbox. I don't understand and this has been going on for several years - what do you have to counter that??
The vido is about 3 minutes long shows all supension parts, tyres, brakes, exhaust, etc and footage is in HD as it is very clear nice record
So a dealership of Mercedes Benz can afford to do it, this doesn't mean that every single garage in the UK has the same finances or manpower to enable them to do the same.
Another poster had their Jag vdeo done. Then another on their Seat.

They already charge 2 arms and 3 legs for a service, imagine how much extra they'd charge if they had to pay the minimum wage kid £10 to film the service!

Not to mention the admin and costs related to ensuring that they fully complied with GDPR requirements for the storage and distribution of the recordings.
Dear poster, having told you what others have said about Jag, Seat - where does your statement re "GDPR" come in?
Another said it was the top brands getting the vids but then a poster said their Seat had one
But where does your claim re GDPR come in - a bit like those that talk about 'Human Rights' but when asked whick ones, they have no idea what they are claiming.
FYI - Please look up GDPR and then tell me why we can get these vids.

You openly challenged jusdging by your post that it would raise costs so I told your re MB and another Told you re Jaguar - so what happens to your statement re "GDPR" going out of the window as incorrect info.

You clearly implied that  that videos would not be allowed becuse of "GDPR" - you comments remind me of those people that talk about the 'human rights' and when challenged by asking the 'which ones' they have no idea.
I never stated anything remotely like "GDPR going out of the window" and I never stated or implied anything about videos not being allowed and you are rapidly losing what little credibility you have left by making things up in an attempt to make a point.

I stated that complying with GDPR requirements would result in extra administration for the garages and as anyone in business knows (and let me guess, you have been involved in business at some time in your life), administration isn't free, someone has to pay for it.
