Agreed. Even if they check whether you have a TV licence or not then it doesn't mean you can pick up the full range of channels and presumably they aren't just asking you what's on BBC1 given that's available in all TV listing publications!bradders1983 said:
How ridiculous. Not everyone has a TV, believe it or not.silvercar said:
I know of people that have had phone calls, checking that they are home. One call was to a mobile and they were asked to switch the TV on and confirm what was showing on a random station.Dr_Crypto said:It’s 14 days starting from when you leave France, providing you don’t do anything on your return leg. So 7 days once you get home.

I doubt they check if properties have a TVL before calling, far too joined up thinking that 🤣epm-84 said:

If anything it is probably be a huge breach of GDPR given the TVL is administered by a private firm.0 -
It’s probably a screening thing. 90% or more of people who are are home will be able to do it. Those who don’t can be looked into further.
Theyve really upped their game though if they’re actually making an effort to check.
Some people I know said that there were no checks that The passenger location form was even completed.1 -
Its was common knowledge for a while that they ring one in five but that was before Spain was added into the list, maybe this will impact on the workload and even more so with France now on there.Dr_Crypto said:It’s probably a screening thing. 90% or more of people who are are home will be able to do it. All that being said, if somebody rang me and asked me what was on BBC One, they would be told to go and do a running jump.0 -
Arriving in Gibraltar we had to hand in a form that included our seat number and flight details. On return to Heathrow, we submitted a form online, but no one checked we had done so (unless the e-gates automatically checked for a match with passport number). I do know of others that were checked, so it may be a certain proportion are checked.Dr_Crypto said:It’s probably a screening thing. 90% or more of people who are are home will be able to do it. Which agency is making the calls I wonder? Technically I think it’s meant to be PHE but the forms are run by UKBA/Immigration at the Home Office.0

First of all, "people"...so out of the very rare random checks you know more than one?silvercar said:

There is no enforcement at all but those are the rules.
Second of all, noone is obliged to answer questions of anyone phoning.
Thirdly, it is permitted to leave the home to go shopping, care for a relative, escape from harm etc etc which makes a mockery of the whole thing.
It was brought in as an appeasing gesture as people were demanding it....but really, noone gives a hoot about it.0 -

When my daughter came home from America, noone even took the forms from her......noone knew who she was.
She had a list of permissable reasons to leave the house....made the whole thing a joke.
If anyone does call the house, you dont have to pick up neither do you have to answer any questions.
There is no follow up if you dont.0 -
Yes, I do know more than one. I am talking about people I know who are quarantining after being abroad getting phone calls, not people that were on my flight.QuackQuackOops said:

You can only go shopping for essentials if you can't manage any other way. So supermarket deliveries, local take away deliveries etc Near to me you can even get deliveroo to go to the nearby co-op! Plus the option of asking friends or neighbours to help you out. You would have to be quite isolated to not have any options available to you. I accept that surviving on say take away pizza for 2 weeks may not be desirable, but I guess most people have some pasta in stock and some food in the freezer.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. How do they disprove you have nobody else in your life able to go and do a shop for you?silvercar said:

See, the whole thing is a farce.0
