So we are currently in France and have been here for 2 weeks by the time we leave, however, we are then due to spend on week in Germany. We will travel back via France/Belgium in one day without stops (except relieving the dog in areas not populated) using the Channel Tunnel. Reading the guidance.https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-how-to-self-isolate-when-you-travel-to-the-uk/coronavirus-covid-19-how-to-self-isolate-when-you-travel-to-the-uk I understand it to state that we would only need to self isolate for 7 days because in the last 14 days before returning we are in an exempt country. But then says "If you transit through a country that is not exempt you will need to self isolate for 14 days..." But In the travel corridors section https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-travel-corridors it says "you do not need to self isolate If you travel through a non exempt Country and no new people get in and out the vehicle and you do not mix with new people..." Is it me or does this contradict what the other webpage said? Am I still right in thinking we only need to self isolate for 7 not 14 days?

I think the big question mark is on leaving France. If someone at customs in France decides they want you to get out and show them what's in the boot of you car then you no longer meet the exemptions! There would also be a risk that if your car develops a fault and you have to call for assistance or if you get stopped by police that you would no longer be exempt. You could also encounter another person while letting your dog out even if you think it's in the middle of nowhere! I think it also presumes you don't go in to any public toilets between leaving Germany and getting back to Britain.
Also keep an eye on the requirements for entering Germany, if they revise their quarantine restrictions then you may need to spend 14 days in quarantine before you can leave Germany!1 -
Just do 14 days, safer for everybody.1

Strictly speaking I think you only need to do 7 days, provided that you do not stop anywhere where there is people on your way back.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It’s 14 days starting from when you leave France, providing you don’t do anything on your return leg. So 7 days once you get home.

Things are changing so quickly, I think anyone travelling outside of the UK would be wise to have contingency plans in place in case they do need to quarantine for 14 days after they return. It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.3 -
I would be grateful for any advice please ref Middle East Travel.
Have a package deal booked to Dubai/Abu Dhabi in September. Travel company says flights etc are running so no chance of a refund BUT there is a 14 day mandatory quarantine period for travellers arriving in Abu Dhabi.....and it is only a 10 day trip.
What are my rights please?SlickRic0 -

Certainly some middle east airlines require passengers to test before boarding and are offering rescheduling for those that can't sort it. I would check the airlines own website.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I would suggest the solution is to ask change the itinerary to not go to Abu Dhabi and to remain in Dubai or to ask to postpone the trip.
