Thank you @Coupon-mad - I did a little searching and am absolutely shocked to see this happened before. I honestly thought it was some incredible bad luck that somehow the email did not send and I did not receive a bounce back. I was waiting on the court for nearly 6 months to 'do me favour' as such, but now I can see it's their b****y system!!

I really am annoyed about this, it is so lucky that this court error did not cost me my new job, a CCJ working in the financial sector is a big issue - I saw many horror stories online about offers that got pulled for that reason. Had this happened when we were moving house the mortgage would have been declined etc! Literally life changing consequences.

I note since my last visit you have had some success in shaping new legislation around the whole PCN issue. Congratulations, and thank you for everything you do. Without resources like this one, most of us here no doubt would have been so baffled and scared of the process, we'd have had no choice but to pay these cowboys.

I'd report the whole awful story to your MP and ask if he will intervene and write to the court to shake them from their lethargy.

I'm sorry you're having so much crap to deal with.

Wow, they are now giving £50 compensation for this far too common error. That is great to know and to tell others about.  Which email address deals with these complaints please?  Who is replying to you?

If this was a PDF defence there is NO WAY the file 'couldn't be opened'!  And now suddenly they've found it and can open it?  Makes zero sense.

They mean they have posted out a DQ, so pick up the first 12 steps from the Template Defence thread now so you know what to do.  Filling in the DQ is coached in the NEWBIES thread, question by question, but also then read the new thread by @Grizebeck about the new question in the N180 and how to answer it.

I will never link threads, but I provide usernames so you can go looking and find what we signpost you to.  Hope that helps!

@Coupon-mad - The original complaint was sent to the normal address, just with the word "complaint" in the title. The reply however came from replies@optic.justice.gov.uk

The unable to open error I think relates to me sending copy of the original email. They would not take me simply forwarding it from sent items.

The email does seem to suggest the DQ was supposed to be electronically attached. They only processed it today, I've not had anything in the post, but yet want the DQ back in 9 days time. Arggh!

Well done on sticking to your guns and turning the court around on this.

The DQ is a 5-minute job.

It's just a standard court form that the Template Defence already tells you can be downloaded.

Please read the rest of my reply due to the new question on the DQ.

Why not follow the guidance in the opening post of the template Defence thread?

    Here are the pertinent paragraphs...

    @Coupon-mad

You may be interested to know that I have gone back on the £50 compensation offer to essentially say the court made at least 5 separate errors, and it did not reflect the poor service - including a total of 3+ hours phone calls. A bit of online digging would suggest their compensation limits can be quite high, and also there are some example cases on the Ombusman.org.uk where compensation has been paid around £200 for delays.

It's quite old now, but there is some HMCTS documents from a FOI request around the complaints process. It seems managers can authorise up to £1000.

I'll update if I hear further.
