I’ve done it! Paid the £850 deposit this morning. I changed the basic council style sink to a white composite sink with a beautiful brass chunky tap! I would have regretted it if I didn’t. It only added £5 a month to the finance.

My mortgage balance updated this morning. I’m aiming for £66,666 by the end of May. The op will have to be lower the next couple of months as I done a list of what I need in the kitchen pre-fitting and it’s big and expensive! Luckily I’m after a classic style so I may find some bargains in charity shops etc for chairs and lights if I’m lucky 🤞🏼Xx

Kitchens and bathrooms are not a regular thing to update, it's worth getting exactly what you want.

Now I’m back down to earth with a crash. My best friend has fallen out with me. She’s been funny all week but one word texts and making excuses not so see or speak to me. Anyway I bumped into her in the shop after she said she was staying in with tummy ache. I was not a happy bunny and said she’s a liar and user as everything is at her convenience and I’m a free taxi for her.

She text me when I got home and said it’s because I offended her Saturday morning when she said I shouldn’t be committing £200 a month to a kitchen and I said I can earn it in one shift where that’s what she earns a month 🤦🏼‍♀️ If she had said there and then I would have just apologised and moved on but now she’s turned it into something snidey.

Since I’ve got home I’ve finished painting the front of the house. Cleared out a wheelie bin full of rubbish out the shed and cleaned all the back garden. I am so upset though. I understand where she is coming from but at the same time I think she’s just not happy for me being happy. You know when friends are always there for you when you’re sad but if you’re happy they resent it. That’s how it feels. Well now I’m sad again anyway 😭😭

why can’t life just be good? There’s always someone to pee on my parade 😭😭😭

sorry for the rant. I have nobody else to rant to x

Money is a touchy subject with most people and it’s a source of a lot of arguments.  If your happy to commit that amount a month for a kitchen then go for she shouldn’t be commenting on the amount and it’s not your fault you earn more than your friend.

but don’t lose your friendship over it, that would be a shame xx

Thanks. No I know. It’s weird we’ve been friends for about 9 years and never ever argued. I usually speak to her first thing in morning and all day long but now I’m gonna be worrying oh I can’t say this or that because she’ll think I’m showing off.

And I don’t really see how I’m wrong for working and saving and achieving things. They spend £200 a month on phone contracts but I don’t care... we just have different priorities.

Sadly I think this is the end for us x

You can't undo what's been said, but money does tend to cause arguments and fallouts. It's obviously hit a nerve with your friend and you've inadvertently put her income down. Maybe some space will allow reflection or maybe it is the end and time to move on.

The last year has been a strange one, people are realising how their lives are, wondering if it can be changed or stuck knowing this is it.

That's rubbish of your friend, ftb (although can I say, if it was what you said, 'liar' is quite a provocative word). A lot of people struggle to see that their own priorities are not shared and feel that someone making other choices diminishes their own. Now, you know that's not the case, but it can take a long time, and a lot of experience/maturity to realise that. A short story for you:

My mother is lovely, but has very definite ideas about the right way to do some things (many of which I'm very glad to have had drummed into me), and ideas about 'respectability' and what other people think. Thanks to my parents, I've had many, many more opportunities than they had, and consequently, a more diverse experience of the world. When I first began to assert my own opinions, at first, my mother got upset - didn't matter whether it was an issue of major social importance, or whether I liked the cushions she'd bought -  my mother is a first class exponent of silent fury. I began modifying what I said - describing the cushions as 'interesting' which she soon learnt to interpret as "Good God woman, what possessed you?" :D! But understood that I was trying to be kind. Her response was to always introduce something she thought might be controvetial as "I know it's not your sort of thing, but . . ."

I learnt to be kinder and she learnt that me not liking something was not a criticism.

So, with your friend, a little time and perhaps suggesting you were excited and thought she'd enjoy sitting in the new kitchen with you. On the other hand, if she's being a nightmare, move on and focus on people you bring positive vibes into your life.

PS, my eyebrow wax was the BEST EVER - I look human! Have you had your treatments yet?
