Went through Motorcycle Direct for mine. They have just stung me £50 just for changing address, saying it was in the small print. Needless to say I will be looking elsewhere come renewal time.0

Fairly standard charge. You may find a company that charge less for admin fees. But the premium may well be higher to compensate.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Just a friendly warning to all my fellow bikers out there.
I am absolutely fuming at this joke of a company!
They are coming out cheapest on all the comparison sites and yet they are a complete bunch of cowboys!
I paid up front, about £120 for a years insurance on my Triumph Daytona 675.
They chased me for No Claims bonus proof which I duly supplied.
Then they chased me for front and back of plastic driving licence and paper part.
I had just moved house and couldn't find the paper part so i have been looking everywhere for it.
I tried to call them 3 times to tell them I was struggling to find the paper part and failed to get through every time I called.
Then yesterday I had a text to say that my insurance had been cancelled. I immediately called them and spoke with a woman there who informed me that they had sent another letter at the end of March (which i never received) and that they would waive the cancellation charge as i had paid up front so I owed them nothing but that my insurance was still cancelled!!!
I argued my case and demanded that a manager call me today.
Overnight I had an email from them saying "congratulations on renewing your insurance"
The manager called me today to say that was a clerical error, that my insurance was still cancelled and wasn't interested in anything else i had to say! He also said that as a 'gesture of goodwill', he would refund £50!!!
So to put into context, I have had my bike insured for 1 month at a cost of £70 and now have to go through the whole process again!!
To add insult to injury, he asked me if I would like them to requote for my insurance!!!!
Er how about "NO WAY YOU TOTAL JOKER!! YOU COMMIT DAYLIGHT ROBBERY ON ME AND THEN ASK ME THAT"
You have been warned. Stay away from MOTORCYCLE DIRECT no matter how much they quote you.
Pass the word on as they don't deserve anyone's business!0 -
You realise that you now need to declare that you have had a policy cancelled to all future insurers. If you don't then in the event of a claim you could well find your policy void. All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0

I followed the article's advice & used the MCN version of multi-search tools & also tried ASDA's version as a comparison. I consistently found Carole Nash to be the cheapest & best in terms of excess, foreign cover, breakdown cover etc based on employed 46 yr old male, west London postcode. The bike is a 1984 Honda125cc (garaged). Dicking about with my personal information did not yield any further reductions but £98 for fully comp with Euro breakdown recovery under a £25 excess was pretty good I thought. ASDA are offering a 'we'll beat that' deal so I'll see what they say but it'll probably be Nash vs. Nash. Anyone with similar circs seen any better deals?0

On the following page:
mse/car-insurance/motorbike-insurance
why isn't autotrader included on the list of insurance comparison websites?
I found my cheapest quote (Lexham insurance) by using their comparison service.
Maybe they use another company's service and that's why you discluded it. But if not then I recommend the MSE team check it out. They also process apart of the vehicle financing and they use bikeloan4u for that and I got my finance with help from autotrader there as well. So they are really helpful.
They even have recommended dealers so if the bike you are eying up get's sold, you should ask your autotrader handler and they can find you another bike. Bikeloan4u did most of the paperwork for me, I just had to read and sign documents and scan them.
Autotrader is my go to place for insurance and finance. I will check the other sites out that you suggest when my renewal comes close.0 -
The article points to The Bike Insurer and Confused.com. Both are operated by Vast Visibility so you get the same results from both.0

Unbelievable. Motorcycle Insurance Cancellation. Pitiful refund from RAC (trading as Devitts) Insurance, via Zenith underwriters.
I sold my motorbike so I contacted my insurance company (RAC with Zenith underwriters) for a refund. They said, after 3 months of 12 months, they would refund me only 40% of the total paid! (Not 66% - it's in their small-print terms apparently). Then they refunded me only 19% and said "that's your lot". DO NOT PAY YOUR INSURANCE PREMIUM IN FULL UPFRONT. AND DO NOT INSURE WITH ZENITH OR RAC (Devitts). I'm disgusted.0 -
So you screwed the price down and now upset you've been hit by an admin fee.
Next time don't go for the cheapest go for one that provides service.0 -
What has paying it upfront got to do with the admin fee and charges to cancel? They will still be the same and require payment.
You may have saved money by paying upfront also, no interest to pay that you may have had if you paid monhtly.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
