Update on DH: the GP rang and has sent him to the local Assessment Centre to have his chest listened to: he has already gone off for his 11.30 appointment. She also told us both to arrange a Covid test (appointment made for 3.00 this afternoon: results should be through by the weekend) and is sending the dressing prescription through to our local pharmacy for me to pick up. Hey-ho.
My car radio will have to wait.
Just hoping that I can still see DD and DGS1+2 next Friday....
asb, don't attempt wallpapering. Make sure everything possible is out of your way and cover what's left in the room with a plastic sheet or old bed sheet. Get some powder filler for the inevitable gouges/holes in the walls; rub down and clean as Valli says. I work down from the top when painting, ie emulsion the ceiling first (may need 2 coats), then walls (ditto), then do all the gloss. I use one-coat gloss: it's quicker than doing undercoat and topcoat , and you don't need turps or other nasty brush cleaner but can wash your brush out with water. Good luck! I'm trying to do one large alcove in the study, but I still haven't got the paint, so if I am forced to self-isolate I don't know when it will be finished.
ETA The Dr at the Centre thinks DH has just got a chest infection, but of course we still have to go for the C Tests.8 -
Keeping everything crossed for you, Iona and for Mr I. Hopefully it is all a sensible precaution.
ASB - my grandad was a decorator and instilled in me Prepare, Prepare, Prepare. My job was to stir the paint for hours before decorating could start - paints were different then. And to use good quality brushes or rollers, as cheap ones shed their bristles or bits. I always check that the paint only needs brushes to be cleaned in water, as everything else is a faff and unnecessary. Satin paint works on woodwork if you like that finish, and usually only needs water to clean the brushes. Good luck!
I have temporarily left my space on the naughty step, to make room for others 😉. I’ll reclaim my bit of space there later. So I have done the bedroom, landing, stairs and hallway. DD did her room, so I’ll claim that credit too off the list. Bathroom and ensuite scrubbed and bleached, just cloakroom to do. Towels are in the wm, and sheets blowing outside. I think that I am nearly there for the day - no point trying to clean downstairs, as DH is wfh and constantly on the phone.7 -
Bathroom cleaned. Black bin and kitchen bin washed out (ugh to bin juice, though there was only a very little) and rabbit hutch and understorey cleaned; hutch currently upended to allow drying off of ground. Will need another brush out shortly.
DD is currently answering the phone to customers so vacuuming probably not an option. Attempting to muster some GUAG to clean the car.

No need to dust off the naughty step, because I've been sliding down the stairs on my 'arris all week, so it will be all clean and shiny!
Actually, I went to bed just after 8pm yesterday and slept for 10 hours - I was exhausted! Feeling better today, but still not much achieved so far. Still trying to catch various chickens from the stable to move them outside, but the stupid birds keep just out of reach! Grrr....
I have eaten a cane toad today and finally sorted out the necessary paperwork so I can take over the role of Club Secretary for our local junior football club. I must be mad. Oh, and I've ranted on FB about caged eggs...oopsie...

A bit late in the week but i'm in. I've spent the last few weeks trying to work out why I couldn't log in on my new computer. Just had a light bulb moment...I was using the wrong email address. There is no hope for me at all!!!
Day off tomorrow so I'll catch up on the thread and try and do some serious flying as I live in a pit again!
Hope everyone is keeping well xx9 -
Thanks everyone xxx. Tests are done, now it's a waiting game. DH is feeling better this evening, and has had his first dose of ABs. I've managed to do some filling of holes, and I should be able to get on with some more tomorrow, since I will be staying at home.with
This evening I have rehomed (via Freecycle) some old hoses which had been cluttering up the shed [fer-ling]8 -
Good evening!
I am shattered! I have had 2 sets of siblings today (all boys). Set 1, aged 7 & 5, have been with me since they were babies - on a mission to wind each other up, as usual! Set 2, aged 5 and 5 months, started today. The new little boy asks a LOT of questions, which I try my best to answer! Hopefully that will subside as he settles in. The baby was as good as gold, but didn't like his nappy changed. His cry is more of a scream, that actually hurts my ears! On the plus side, he had 2 napsWe went to the woods this morning, and they played in the garden this afternoon.
DD2 was making cupcakes for a friend. Cue a layer of icing sugar covering everything in the kitchen! I helped her clean up, as I wanted it done properlyI have watered the garden, and cleaned the chalk drawings off the patio with the hose while I was at it. DW has been on. I will put the WM on before bed so I can hang it out first thing.
I am not sure how much sleep I will get tonight as it is so hot! The plan is to be up early in the morning to do run 2 of the week before starting work at 10am. I probably need to walk the dog as well before work, but I will leave it if it's too hot. I will also need to sort out what I am taking on our weekend away to the south coast
Valli good news about the flat! I am ready for DD2 to move out, but they don't seem to be in a hurry! I don't want her to move far away though!
Iona I hope DH is feeling better soon and that the tests are just a precaution. Big hugs to you x
