Well it really is an Amazing August for Calling and Ellie isn't it? Huge congratulations on becoming debt free to both of you - enjoy that feeling of knowing that your money is your own.
I have finally started the decorating - it's coming along slowly but it is coming along at least. I've done downstairs doors and all the skirtings and the bannister. Need a second coat on the downstairs doors and to do the upstairs doors - full stop. Then the emulsion - at least it's all white though so less faffing once the gloss paint is out of the way. I couldn't bear the smell to do any more painting today so have done lots of little frog jobs - hanging pictures, putting curtains up, taking kitten to the vets, popping into work to collect my laptop, washing, hoovering etc.
Today I'm grateful for the kitten being happy and healthy, and grateful that I've crossed some frogs off the list. Also very grateful that the government have Uturned - just wish it had been a bit sooner...Not giving up

By the way ditty - sounds like you have way too much going on with work at the moment. Remember August is about looking after yourself and take some time wherever you can...

So just want to share a great sadness as I can't share elsewhere as it's not mine to share, but my ds whos still home before heading back to uni in Sept had a full on seizure last night after a year, he even applied to DVLA to think about driving lessons. What a set back. Very upsetting, in that loss of possible futures for him kind of way.
Anyways I am grateful he was at home, that he didn't hurt himself, and that we now know what it is so it's not a great panic, but still upsetting obviously mainly for him.
And here is my question - how do you acknowledge when people are living with a chronic condition? If people are ill or have an operation they get flowers, cards, what do you do with people who just live in risk of just collapsing and hurting themselves? We usually plan around it and discuss risk taking, but I feel I should be more supportive! Not the one who says ... no you can't buy a motorcycle!Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Ditty1234 so sorry to hear, has your son had any before? One of my friends had seizures, didn't tell me but I couldn't understand why I was always driving to gigs or her husband drove us well over hours drive. Didn't find out till a few years ago, the seizures had stopped and she could drive again. Can understand how worried you must feel, alert his uni friends so they are prepared?Hugs to you all xxxLBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/225

Oh Ditty! I'm so sorry. Similar thing happened to a friend of mine. She had 3 or 4 epileptic seizures when she was a teen, but never since (she is knocking on 60 now), and her son got to 19, had just come home from his second driving lesson, and had one on the sofa. it is the loss of what could/should have been, and the fear of what if he had been parachute jumping or on the end of the high board when it happened.Just remember to tell him you love him. If he can't buy a motorcycle . how about a session on a motorbike racetrack? Everything in life is a risk, you can be the fittest, healthiest, most popular, most beautiful person in the world and still get run over by a drunk driver or someone running a red light, it is managed risk. But hugs to you and ds. Just realised that was no help whatsoever!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I am sorry to hear about your son, Ditty. To me It sounds like you're doing everything you should. Planning around it, discussing risks and acknowledging it. You sound very supportive and loving to me and I'm sure he knows and appreciates it. I would agree with Calling. His friends, tutors knowing that it is a possibility and knowing how to deal with it would probably be a good thing. But it is a while since it happened it could be longer next time or never happen again.
Lots of hugs to you both.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.5
