Mothernerd - You're not alone in feeling tearful at times. I wake up in the night feeling really anxious. Heart pounding and all that. No reason for it but. as Himself pointed out, it's strange times of uncertainty and if you're a planner like most of us here are we are completely thrown by it all. Plus you obviously take this all very seriously (as we all should) and stories of people just not caring and just doing as they please is unsettling to say the least. Also even though you're staying with your mother you're out of your normal environment and that's an added stress. Keep on going. You're an inspiration.
I've just been pottering away ticking things off the list. Defrosted both freezers today. Always an adventure! I thought we were getting through them. Well, we are but there is still loads left. Won't need much freezer stuff in next week's food delivery.
Little porch garden is really coming along now, Wish my sunflowers would bloom, Calling. They are bigger than I am.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
Grateful for:
Voluntary work went well today. Most of the volunteers I was with, I had volunteered with quite a few years ago. We worked well together.
Made a contact at the place where I did voluntary work for. May open doors in the future. I am doing a course there starting next month. See what happens.
Had a nice chat with a neighbour in the same block of flats where I lived.
Nice relaxing bath.
Reasonable night's sleep.
Finding things in the flat that I could reuse or use instead of buying new things.

Another scorcher. Grateful today for having the oomph to inflate the paddling pool (dh did the buckets thing to half fill it -yay!) as I was in and out of it all day, for an understanding dentist when things weren't going well for dd and he simply made us another appointment, for dd chatting away with an old primary school friend, for making a yummy curry for tea, for really enjoying where I live, for fresh rasps.

Still absolutely sweltering here, even hotter than yesterday. Put a hot water bottle in the freezer and keep taking it out to cool down, it's great!
Very spendy couple of days. Car insurance was due, got it down to £330, paid £100 upfront and used the cc for the rest (will be cleared next month). Rabbits had their vaccinations, although vet hasn't invoiced me yet, but that's budgeted for. My retainer broke yesterday (was split for some time), I had budgeted to replace it in September so used the cc (£50) and will repay in September as planned. Also bought some wellies today as they were on sale (clearly not in high demand in this heat!) and my dash cam just gave up the ghost completely after being a bit funny for months so have replaced, found one on sale with very good reviews. So all in all very spendy but mostly all needs and not wants apart from the wellies (although come winter they would be a need!).
Now I'm just going to do a rain dance to try and get rid of this oppressive heat!
Hope everyone is staying cool and safe!5 -

It was so muggy here last night and again today. Himself and I were up at 3.30 am this morning watching the lightning in the distance. I think there could be more later on tonight.
I spent ages this morning trying to replace the lampshade on the overhead light in the bedroom. Even with a ladder I had difficulty doing it but I managed eventually. It's just plain but it matches the blind and the new bedding perfectly. I had intended to frame some postcards that we'd collected on our travels (lovely selection of Delft) and hang them but I was too shattered after the battle with the lampshade. Maybe tomorrow.
Bedding changed and washed and dried on the line. Ironing is for tomorrow as well. First thing before it gets too hot.
haven't a clue what to have for dinner. It's too hot.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.3 -
Calling - my gym opened a few weeks ago, but I'm paying full whack, so don't hold your breath! I was given the option to keep my membership frozen, but I've not done that. It's a really new gym - only opened in the new year - and has ultra modern air-filtering aircon, reduced numbers (you have to book) and plenty of cleaning.Today I am grateful for my gym and that I have the means to pay for it and get there and make the most of it, for the paddling pool, for dh maybe having some extra work from now on, for dd clearing out even more books, for motivating podcasts.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

Evening all
Apologies for my absence recently - both of my parents have been ill (not with COVID or even the same thing), plus I am struggling in the heat which is still much cooler than many of you are having to deal with.
I am grateful for the discovery of a right angled screwdriver meaning that my decorating and DIY can recommence
Sorry I haven't got much else to say except just keep on keeping on, look after yourselves and relax as much as you can. Stay safe.
