Hi chipsmum, E-Mail the PDLs and ask for a statement of accounts for all loans you have had with them. Take a look and read up on posts on Debt Camel and here at MSE, Be patient it is a long process at the moment, go for it you have evreything to gain.
  • Hey everyone

Been looking at this thread for some time and finally joined today. I emailed LS for a refund on unaffordable loans. What's your views on the below, shall I keep pushing? The amount they are offering is no where near what I unaffordably took out with them.

    Their latest response below:

"This is in reference to your email dated 06-May-2016.
To keep you posted, loan agreements were approved with some procedural error. Hence, we are refunding a part of interest paid on these loans, which sums to £233.24.
Should you accept the offer, please confirm so that we may initiate the refund of £233.24 towards the same bank account details that we have on our records"

What do you think they mean by 'procedural error' and will this help my case to push for more? Surely I can ask for full interest and not part as they state.

    Thanks

    Hi All

It took awhile but Wonga finally got back and made an offer to the ombudsman of $9642 which I accepted and was in my account within 4 days.

I have 3 complaints with the ombudman for payday loan companies not responding to me within the 8 weeks with details and one where I have made a complaint that my loans were unaffordbale so watch this space.

Its up to you Superman26, I have a specific figure in mind for my complaints against QQ and PDUK, with the FOS no offers yet. The first offer from these Predators is usually low??
  • Cheers, I've pushed back one more time and asked if this is their final response. On to the FO otherwise. Thanks

The payday loan companies lent wanting people to be unable to pay so they could add huge charges - which many people paid - likely under duress from lots of 'phone calls etc.

The individuals who own these companies are rolling in money - no surprise there!

    Good on ya Woody.

I'm not sure fusionx212 - I took 88 loans out though over 66 months and the basic interest by my calculation was £7000. It's great to get the cash but I wish they had stopped me taking out loans much earlier - it would have made me confront the fact I had a debt problem. Yes I made the decision to take out loans and I accept responsibility but surely a red flag should have been raised after a year or two after taking out loans repeatedly.

I wouldnt beat my self up for wongas greed and poor business practices Maddie. I had 23 loans rolling over paid 15k total about 4k interest.

I was in your situation, I'm glad it's all sorted for you. my suggestion to you is pay off a chunk of your remaining bills if you have them. Then treat your self, Put some in your savings.
