Probably more so, its about affordability. Go to DebtCamel website and read posts, at least 2 gamblers asking the same on there.
  • Hi dizzyexponent 1 , You probably accessed PDL to fund your Gambling and the PDL allowed this and most likely encouraged you to borrow more and more often. This then trapped you in the payday cycle and DEBT.
  • My debt problems were caused purely by a gambling addiction. It has not had a negative impact on my claims as an appropriate credit checking process could easily have highlighted indicators of an addiction.
  • Called Wonga today for a statement of my account. Emailed them last week but not had a reply.

Today they said they are having "technical issues" and to try again in another hour. Just wondering if they have tried the same with anyone else before.

They strangely asked for my postcode and then said "We are having technical issues" and were not able to pull up any records. Not sure what use my postcode would be if they had no ability to check the records...

    Hi,

As I have stressed before, you don't need any account information, simply complain useing the template letter on the debt camel website and just add generic dates.

If they write back to you requesting more information on particular loans, just state they must already hold that information on there systems.

If you cant progress any further with the creditor, give the FOS a ring on there helpline number and explain the situation to them, and seek there advice on what to do next, that's why they are there.

It appears to me that the PDL companies are wising up to the fact that lots of previous customers are trying to reclaim money on the grounds of affordability, and are starting to throw spanners in the works, hoping that will put you off, be patient, and keep pushing is the best advise I can give you !!

    Thanks sourcrates

I spoke to there collections team and now they've told me that the debt has been sold and they no longer own the account so can't provide me with any information.

They did say that they still hold the information but i would need to request it through the collection agency. All kinds of confusing

Just called them again - the issues are apparently over so I guess it was a genuine technical issue. However, the request apparently takes 12 days!!!

I've been trying to piece it together from my bank statements but it's so complicated with the roll overs/extra withdrawals mid loan etc.

Pounds to Pocket gave me theirs pretty quickly but QuickQuid (their sister company) isn't playing ball. I emailed my request to them again stating that the FOS has awarded extra compensation for customers who are not given the information in a timely manner.

Did they say who they had sold it to ?

No doubt you will receive a demand for payment letter soon enough, when you are written to, respond with a letter stating the account is in dispute, and you require proof of the debt, including all account statements pertaining to the alleged agreement, and reinforce the message that it is there responsibility to forward this information to you.

Did any of your complaints go to FOS stage and if so did you tell the FOS that this was due to a gambling issue or is it best not mentioned?
