Well done fresh Start - this gives us all hope!
I spoke with my adjudicator this morning g and have rejected Wonga's offer. My case will now be looked at by the FOS.
I wonder if Wonga will come back with a counter offer? I paid over £6000 in interest over 5 years - think in due more than £1062!
In for the long game!0 -
Thought it was about time I wrote something on here, having read it religiously for the last 3 months and acted!
Like many who have shared their personal stories, I got myself trapped in a PayDay loan funded debt spiral. I entered a DMP in Feb 2014 for my just shy of £10k amount. Talk about a wake up call. I paid my final payment on Aug 2016, and paid back every penny.
During this time my relationship broke down, moved back with parents and really struggled. But I have come out of this more financially savvy, confident and in a new relationship that makes me 100% happy.
I saw that people had started to claim and initially thought it would be a pain in the bum. But having had access to old statements via online banking and a list of loans on my noddle account I decided to take the plunge.
Oct 2016 I sent complaints to PDUK, PD Express and Lending Stream, working out that I had paid roughly £9k in interest. So that's where the balance of the DMP came from!
Waited 8 weeks for both PDUk and PDE both taking some responsibility for irresponsible lending and offering measly amounts.
Sent to the ombudsman, and PDUK offer upped to £850 ish, which I am settling at, as by my figures it's not far off and that could pay for a much needed holiday. I have given them my bank details and spoke to them to be told payment between 2-4 weeks.
FOS is looking into PDE as the amount varied greatly from the offer and he has suggested full refund on all loans, plus 8%, and wiping of records. So fingers crossed for a good result from them.
Lending Stream is the biggest with around £6.5k of interest paid back. I've sent all bank statements and will just hold on for a response.
I'm also thinking of sending a case off to Wonga. I did get a balance written off in 2014, but have sent off for a statement to see where that leaves me.
Just want to say thanks to everyone for being supportive, and Woody53 for starting the thread. With a special nod to Debt Camel!
Thanks guys and gals! X0 -
After my initial success with Mr Lender things have slowed down as expected.
Mr Lender still haven't removed the default from my file. They have put it down to a simple oversight so now I have another 30 day wait to make sure they have actually done it this time.
PDUK - refused to send me SOA and rejected my complaint outright. Sent to the ombudsman
QQ - Didn't reply within the 8 weeks so sent to the ombudsman. 2 days after the 8 week limit they replied rejecting my complaint saying my loans were outside the 6 year time frame (3 were in 2010, 7 were between 2001 - 2013) so I have forwarded that onto the ombudsman.
Wonga - Still within the 8 weeks so waiting tight on that one.
In it for the long haul0 -
Does anyone think it would be a good idea to contact the ombudsman to double check they have my case (not that I'd have any idea whatsoever how to do that!)? My case was referred to the ombudsman in October and I have heard zilch from either them or my adjudicator.0

Could i just get clarification please when making your claim are you just claiming back for the interest and not the initial loan. I never managed to pay any loans back due to my addiction and was in the payday loan spiral, but i paid them off with partial settlements, is there any claim i canmake here, main thing i want is removed from credit file0

You should still pursue the claim. Email the customer service dept of the company you used and then take it from there. There is so much advice on here as well as Debt Camel - which is invaluable!
The main reason most of us are complaining is that we think our loans were unaffordable and that we should not have been lent to time and again. It sounds as though you have a case if you were having difficulties paying the loans back.
Any questions then just ask.0 -
Both Quick Quid and Wonga refused my complaints back in September ( I've had surgery and some family things going on which have taken priority) so I have referred them both to the FOS this week.
Honestly their rejection letters were rubbish, didn't acknowledge that i was rolling over my loans, taking another loan out within a few days. It was obvious I was in a complete mess!
Quick Quid did offer an ' offer of good will' of £100 which I refused. Maybe hope that they knew they might have messed up.
I also did a time line of dates, with all the loans from both companies - from 2009 until the end of 2012. It makes scary and quite shocking reading. I don't know how I kept up with all the juggling off roll overs, extensions, part payments etc. I had 38 loans from QQ and a similar amount from Wonga.
I hope the FOS agree. I'm not even that bothered about the money ( it would be nice), but I want them off my file so I can leave my twenties behind me and start moving on March 2017 - Debt Free- cleared £21,750

I put a complaint in with Wonga last year, missed the 6 month deadline to refer to the Ombudsman and then re-complained as I read on here that it would buy me another 6 months. They've since come back to my second complaint stating that I complained the first time and had 6 months to refer to the Ombudsman basically implying that I now cannot refer to the Ombudsman as my initial complaint was over 6 months ago. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do or is it just tough luck?0
