From peoples' experience, do PDLs generally accept the decision of the Adjudicator or can I expect further waiting? (This is in relation to a claim against Different Money Ltd).

Not always, sometimes your case has to go before an ombudsman whose decision, if you agree, is then binding on both parties.

  • Hi
I have been reading this post for quite a while and thought I would try to reclaim some interest. I got myself into a terrible debt problems aprox 4 years ago and I was borrowing from one PDL paying the interest and then when I had to pay interest and the capital I was stuck so I would borrow from another PDL in order to pay this off, then I would borrow again. In fact I was actually photocopying my bank statement and sending it to QQ to show that the dd had gone through in order to borrow again. This went on until one month I could not borrow any more from anywhere else and took back control, stopped all payments and entered into a dmp. The embarrassing and scary think is that I had 10 PDl companies on the go at one time. Even Money Shop where I would roll over cheques. NEVER, NEVER again.

So last week I wrote to the companies and so far:

Mr Lender replied within 2 days stating they did nothing wrong but could have helped me more and offered me £840.00 back - accepted

Lending Stream - said I had 6 loans (nothing about rolling them over) had a high credit score, so they did nothing wrong however, a possible mistake in their admin process means I am entitled to a refund of some interest and they have offered me £320.00 - should I take this to FOS or accept

    Wonga - complaint acknowledged
    M|S - complaint acknowlwedged
QQ - complaint acknowledged - refused to provide pay slip etc
    HT - complaint acknowledged
PDUK - not heard anything in 2 weeks- chased up to have my complaint acknowledged
Speedy Cash - not heard anything - chased up to have my complaint acknowledged
1 Month Loan - complaint acknowledged

Just a waiting game now but will keep you updated.

    Thanks
  • Can someone confirm the email address that Wonga complaints were sent to please?

I requested my statement from them via email, then called to chase up and then used the same email address they sent my statements from to complain (customercare@wonga.com)

I haven't had any acknowledgement from them yet and I complained on the 26th of September...

Email this afternoon from my adjudicator for Payday Express. They made me an offer of £1590 less the balance of 323 leaving £1267. More than happy with this as I honestly didn't think I would get anything. Emailed the adjudicator back to tell him I would be very happy to accept and just awaiting the settlement form. Really chuffed as it's come at just the right time- I'm going to use it to pay off my only two remaining debts at the moment, a Curvissa catalogue account with £500 balance and £100 on a credit card.

After stumbling onto this forum on a boring work afternoon, I decided to log complaints with the two companies( QQ & Wonga) I was unfortunate enough to use for 5 years.

My largest claim is with QQ, who I used for the first time just a month after my 18th birthday. Ever since that time up until I entered into a repayment plan in 2014, I have struggled with money, and the side effects of the stressful cycle these companies trap you into. I never told anyone, I had no one to turn to to help me pay off these debts, and the burden of the embarrassment and guilt of being so young and not affording to live was almost unbearable. The thoughts that crossed my mind about my future within this trap had me considering whether it was worth having a future at all.

In no way did I understand the severity of using these companies, and the fact that my future prospects of borrowing to own my own home had been damaged by being tarred with the Pay Day Loan brush. I sincerely hope that this form of lending is struck off in the future as I never want anyone to feel the burden many of us have felt at the hands of these companies.

Today I received a settlement offer from Wonga, same day as acknowledgment fromFOS. I have accepted the offer of just over £2500. I used Wonga for around 2 years, constantly topping up and rolling over for the majority of that time. Again, I resulted going into a repayment plan with them in 2014. I was also included in the batch of write offs in November 2014.

I am still awaiting to hear from my FOS adjudicator regarding QQ. My original complaint was decline with an offer of £200, which I declined. I have provided them with every morsel of evidence I could regarding the company, and have no interest in rushing my adjudicator. I'm confident that borrowing over 5 years for what is supposed to be a 1 month service shows that the failed their duties and in no way lent to me in an affordable manner. I want these loans removed from my credit file most importantly.

Sorry for the long winded post, but I wanted to share my story. Thank you all for your inspiration posts, keep going and keep voicing the unfair way we have been treated by these terrible companies.

Well done Sadie for logging your complaint and sharing your views with us.
  • Hi all.

Not much to report from me recently but I have a bit of news.

My adjudicator for PDUK and Payday Express has come back to me. She ruled that all loans from Express should be refunded (around £2,000 with the 8% interest) and all but the first loan with PDUK (around £1,700 with the 8% interest less o/s balance of £450 or so).

So that will be around £3,000 to come back to me from them.

Also still waiting on ombudsman decision for QQ which should be another £2,000 or so.
