Tesco Self-Service Checkout Fraud

I don't think the customer's IQ has anything to do with whether or not the checkout is faulty. Very strange logic you have there, but I have come to expect nothing less on this thread.photome said:This is just going round in circles. Yes the till may have been faulty but as a customer you do have some responsibility to check the receipt.
you disagree, and that’s why you have ended up in the position you have
God knows how all of us with a low IQ manage to get it right
BTW, the receipt isn't produced until AFTER the customer has paid...0 -
Amazing that now I am responsible for Tesco's faulty tills, not Tesco. Genius. Why did I not think of that?0

OP you are completely blowing this out of proportion for what may have just been a system glitch or human error. If it really bothers you, don't bloody shop there again and have done with it.8

I'm not arguing that something went wrong, but even after you are saying that you're not going to check the screen when you scan in the future because it's not your responsibility.3guesses said:
Yes, they are blaming ME for Tesco overcharging ME because I didn't look at the screen.Spank said:Victim blaming? Jesus people are telling you to look at a screen when you scan an item & you can't be arsed.
Ok Karen.
Meanwhile, Tesco have done nothing wrong by charging me for items I didn't buy.
Wow. Just wow. No wonder this country is in a mess. Now people might understand why I generally don't waste my time posting on these boards.
That's not only ridiculous & stupid but if you discover that mistakes have been made you will again blame Tesco and take no responsibility for not looking.1 -
So if these 'scales' on the till weren't working properly - and you were busy looking at wherever you were looking - who knows - maybe you didn't scan something properly and ended up with it for free. As much as you want to argue that the technology should be better (and I don't disagree with you) - you must also still be a bit daft not to look at the screen as you go along. Particularly as you've experienced this phenomenon already - if it were me - I'd be watching the screen like a hawk so I wasn't in the same position again of having to go back to the store - it wouldn't take a nano second to see what's scrolling up the screen as you're loading your bags. It's not entirely Tesco's fault - as you didn't check as you were scanning, and it's not entirely your fault, as the scales were probably playing up. But it's definitely not all Tesco's fault.0

When you elected to shop in their store. No one forced you to.3guesses said:
Really? What is my responsibility exactly? And where did I agree to it?Aylesbury_Duck said:
Yes, but that's not what's happening here. What is happening is something called "abdication of personal responsibility."3guesses said:A quick question for some of the posters here: have you ever heard of the phrase "victim-blaming"?
Just curious.
Unless you are disputing that I was overcharged (based on ...?) then I was by definition the victim of overcharging. For which you are trying to apportion blame to me. That then is the definition of victim-blaming, so, yes, that is precisely what's happening here.0 -
OP is never going to get it.Pollycat said:3guesses said:Well, yes, that is rather the point: TESCO HAVE A LEGAL OBLIGATION NOT TO OVERCHARGE THEIR CUSTOMERS. Not the other way round. Then sue them.I prefer to check my receipt before I leave the store so any errors can be rectified. And please don't shout.0 -
Am I the only one who has a vague idea of what I am spending as I go round? If the bill is £5-£10 more than I expect then I will check the receipt. Surely that is common sense? If I couldn't do that and rely on checking the receipt why wait till I go home?
I believe the OP should have mitigated loses by checking the receipt at the time or failing that to speak to tesco the next time they were in town.0
