Quick question...does anyone know whether its worthwhile calling nationwide myself for an update even though we are using a broker. I just feel so cut off, we dont get any txts from nationwide only the valuation one which was done & dusted a month ago! Broker just keeps saying the docs should be looked at soon. Im literally losing my mind as our moving date could be 2 wks fri if this hurrys up!!😫
Hi there, I was frustrated and ended up phoning Nationwide myself (I couldn't get through to MB) but the customer line only gave me incorrect information as it was completely separate to the broker contacting them! I hope that makes sense, also that was only my experience so it may be different for others.

I tried to call them and was on hold for nearly 90 minutes when eventually I gave up. Fingers crossed it won't be much longer for you - I'm thinking about all of you, I know how stressful it is (and remains to be even with a bloomin offer).   I've added my full timelines below and will continue to do this so you can see what the steps are. I'm remortgaging so slightly different, but hopefully it will help someone!

    DIP     6 May
    full application 9 May
    Hard credit search 9 May
    Survey 17 May
Request additional payslip (that they already had) 18 May
Second hard credit search 27 May (with 9 May one removed from Clearscore)
Query something on payslip 30 May
Mortgage offer text 15 June (7.45am)
Mortgage letter in post 18 June (although turns out you don't have to sign this - which I thought was weird)
NW conveyance emailed 'Mortgage Credit Directive Reflection Period Waiver Form' 20 June. (this is to say you will wave the 7 day cooling off period)

  • @GGM29, our timeline very similar to yours, think its literally just the reference letter from my partners work we are waiting on...sent it last tues & it didn't even show up on their system til fri. Just hope they dont want anything else. Glad you dont hav to sign the agreement tho as my partner is off to Glastonbury on wed til nxt wk. Another bloody stress!
  • @pianotime123 If you know your mortgage reference number, then you can indeed call NW for an update and bypass the broker. I did this twice when my broker was on holiday. They were actually very helpful on the phone and forwarded me the update they'd sent to the broker by taking my email address, so I could reply back directly while the broker was away. I actually did this a couple of times even when the broker was back from holiday, because I felt so embarrassed emailing every single day for an update! Just be aware that the wait times are usually 25 minutes plus on the phone. Hope this helps! 😊
  • @Essexianinkent, yes thanks for this i will give it a try tomo if i dont get any info from mb. Need to try something!
  • @pianotime123 Good luck!!
  • Good evening all!

We are just beginning our journey on the Nationwide application (Through MA). The posts on this forum have made for very interesting/terrorising reading so far!

    Full Application 06/06
    Soft search 06/06
    Hard search 11/06
    Valuation 13/06 (2.5 hour survey!)
    And now we wait….

The only document request to now have been for our most recent wage slips. We have everything crossed, but have to accept the process and let it play out.

Best wishes to those that are having a tough time or have had a negative decision. Congrats to those that have for over the line 🙌🏼

So, very little to update in the period since my first post. The valuation took place over a week ago, we haven’t heard a peep back. There is a new search showing on Clearscore dated 16 June, noted as a ‘Subsequent search for credit’. Does anybody know exactly what this means?

Our case should be fairly clear cut, both PAYE, same jobs for 7+ years, no debt, decent deposit and our offer was accepted at £25k below asking.

Who knows where Nationwide are at the moment though. Some of the more recent posts on here have been really sad to read. What a painful process to go through at what should be a time of excitement…
