We're out! Our mortgage broker just let us know nationwide have declined us... Not 100% on the actual reason but I guess it's back to the drawing board with us.

Me too @hanmoe, my broker has just got in touch to say the underwriter wants statements for one of my accounts which is a bit annoying because they had them on application. I guess I'm at the back of the queue again now 😭
    Debt was £15,903 😬 Now £2718.14 £0 😲🥳

Your broker is meant to be told the reason. Have you asked them? All this waiting for a no is very depressing for you. I hope tou ca  find one with another lender.
    My timeline is as follows:
    26/4 DIP referred
    27/4 DIP accepted
    10/5 Offer accepted on property
10/5 Full application done, April payslip requested
10/5 Hard search done - clearscore
11/5 Instructed solicitor and paid money onto account
11/5 Text to say valuation booked for 12/5
18/5 Broker emailed to say property down valued by 10k.
    18/5 Vendor accepted 10k reduction
18/5 Application resubmitted with amended figures.
23/5 Two texts together to say valuation received and being assessed and valuation accepted.
23/5 Subsequent soft search appears on clearscore
24/5 Broker requested bank statements for lender of deposit accounts and full statements for second bank account.
27/5 I rang NW myself for an update. Next update due on 13/6
28/5 Hard search appeared on credit karma and clearscore
    9/6 Mortgage offer received
9/6 Instructed solicitor again now that offer received
13/6 Mortgage paperwork received in post
5/7/22 Contract papers received from sellers solicitor to my solicitor(seller delayed this due to not filling out initial paperwork straight away).
    5/7/22 Searches have began.
25/7/22 Received title report and searches back
5/9/22 Contracts signed and returned in readiness for exchange

They said Nationwide gave no specific reason but that previous adverse credit etc was mostly the reason... My CCJ fell off my file today and on check my file my score went from 748 to 875 and now 'very good'. Sods law. Why approve you at DIP then get your hopes up?! Today we were meant to have the valuation so I was hoping for better news!

Our specific broker is on holiday today but his colleague is overlooking his accounts so suggested we try Halifax as she did a DIP with them and we got a straight approval... However... They were who I got the CCJ with originally... So I'm not sure we should go that way.... Once bitten twice shy!

  • Hello all, EXTREMELY nervous FTB here.
Have applied for the Helping Hands mortgage at 90% LTV.

23/05 had offer accepted and applied for DIP
23/05 offer referred due to missed shopping acc payments by my partner over a year ago
25/05 referral went through, requested a months payslip each, proof of deposit and one month bank statement for ME only
09/05 full application in with MA
    12/05 valuation survey appt
16/05 email from MA stating application is with underwriting and valuation report has been received
21/05 hard searches appeared on transunion and equifax
24/05 call from MA saying he had chased and Nationwide had a backlog. Should hear by this Friday either way...

Been scanning these forums all night for the past fortnight and am absolutely exhausted. Keep looking for reasons why they would not accept at this stage. My partners credit is good/fair but they saw this at referral stage. Mine is squeaky clean. Have no debts, or outgoings other than bills and are both in full time long term employment. Saw a reply stating denial due to overdraft? We use our arranged overdrafts as and when but MA said this is no issue.

Any advice, a friendly word is more than appreciated.

Still nothing from NW. MA called 10.6 and escalated it as apparently still hadn’t been seen by underwriter. Was assured we would have a decision by close of business today, surprisingly have nothing. Just had message from vendor saying they may have to pull out. Absolutely losing my mind.

Good news - we had a mortgage offer issued. Bad news the builders have remarketed the sellers house they were going to buy! Today :( does anyone know if the sellers will still be able to buy their new build if its remarketed? They won't sell to us if they can't!

Congratulations to everyone that has finally gotten their mortgage offers!

Oh nooo! It seems silly for the builders to not sell to your sellers, surely it would be much quicker than starting over. I really hope it all works out, congrats on your offer. Xx

It may be that they have lost heir deposits on the new build and may have to start the process again ?

It is unreal, I can only hope the deposit was "small" and they can start the process again. There was no reply from their solicitors today. Thank you for the replies :)
