We have actually paid for the searches to be done alongside the mortgage application being in because we want it to move as fast as possible & fingers crossed we get the mortgage offer! Risky I know, but ah worth a go.

I've been back and forth with the idea, I just don't know what is supposed to be the right way of doing things! Wish they taught us in school haha. Fingers crossed for you :)

I know that feeling! That would have been useful, haha. I mean, we have decided to go for it in the hope the mortgage will go through okay & then it saves on a huge wait as the mining search we need takes around 8 weeks to come back! Thank you. I don't think there is a right or wrong way as such, I hope everything works out whichever way you decide to do it :)

On my last application, all my documents were approved first time. On this application they don't need half as much paperwork. I've seen it is taking 6 working days to review documents at the moment. Fingers crossed they go through smoothly!

Hi all, been stalking this thread for a while now so wanted to join!

I'm a FTB, applying for a 90% mortgage with Nationwide via the Helping Hand scheme (applied direct with them over the phone). It's not been too bad so far as I was impressed with NW's email and text updates... until they sent me an email requesting additional docs that went into my spam folder and they didn't send a text along side it so I went for nearly a week without seeing it! :(

The 2 additional docs they wanted were straight forward (confirmation of something on my payslip & my most recent CC statement) but that almost makes it more frustrating that the request went into my spam as I lost so many days not seeing it... lesson learnt!

My valuation was completed last week and I received the full report this week from Connells which confirms that the market value is what I offered (phew!) but haven't heard officially from NW yet that they've reviewed it. I know the underwriters are looking at my application now so I'm just crossing my fingers, I can't believe how stressful it is!!

    Hi,
I'm around the same time frame as you, they asked me for my deposit statement again as the first one didn't show the account details, that was sent to them on Tuesday - it is very stressful and frustrating waiting isn't it. I'm in the quandary now of waiting for the offer before I pay for the searches as a solicitor I spoke to said not to pay for searches until offer comes through. But i feel I'm just holding everything up now waiting. Its a horrible feeling. Fingers crossed it all goes through!
I've done the same thing and not pay for any additional searches too! I know my sellers are keen to move ASAP so I just feel bad for not being able to provide any meaningful update. Doesn't help I'm a control freak so this all being completely out of my hands is a horrible feeling haha. So glad I found these forums - I find rereading everyone's stories really helpful  :D
I know, it is a really horrible feeling 😞.  Its the waiting and not knowing that does it for me, ive noticed though that some people's seem to take longer and others just a week or so. Fingers crossed its soon or I might have to just bite the bullet and pay for the searches just to show I'm doing something to the seller, I just really don't want to be the one holding things up even though its out of my hands completely.

I know someone who had to have the mining search and that was 8 weeks wait for it, how do you know if you have to have a mining search?

This is the second time it has happened now. The valuation date isn’t showing on Nationwide’s system but the EA has confirmed it is booked. So I haven’t received a text/email update. This is also the same team that sadly took 5 days to upload the valuation report and another 5 to review it :(

Good news is that it is booked in for next Wednesday so fingers crossed this one doesn't lose 25k!

Hi all, I have what is probably a stupid question. Do you need the contact details of the vendor when making the mortgage application, so that they can book the valuation? Or is that done through the EA?

I have given the estate agent details for the valuation booking.

Thanks, that’s great. We’ve had our DIP subjectively accepted after it was referred, and have a mortgage appointment booked for 3rd Sept which is a bit of a wait. Is there any advantage to applying via an appointment rather than applying online? We know which product we want.
