Still can't get over that it takes Nationwide 5 days to receive the valuation report THEN another 5 days to review it. Just seems so long. My case was underwritten within 5 days with no further documents required.

Hi, has anyone renegotiated their purchase price and then had to have a new offer issued? How was the process? My initial application only took a week to be approved, but I’m worrying that having a new offer might be more complicated!

We've just had a text and email saying our application has been approved. I am so relieved! Good luck to everyone else still waiting.
House sale/purchase progress (we're selling our rental property and currently living in rented so no pressure to complete both on the same day).

2/6 - Accepted offer on our house.

15/6 - AIP in place with Halifax
18/6 - Offer accepted on our dream home!
    19/6 - Solicitors instructed
23/6 - Broker applied for AIP with Nationwide to allow us 23 years due to hubby's age - AIP referred!
    24/6 - AIP approved
5/7 - Full application finally in with Nationwide & valuation booked within 2 hours
    6/7 - Valuation
12-13/7 - Hard credit searches on both of us with TransUnion (Credit Karma)
    13/7 Hard search Equifax (ClearScore)
14/7 Proof of deposit requested in a different format
19/7 Gifted deposit form requested for non-sale part of the deposit - funds were from some inheritance, not gifted - deed of variation sent.
2/8 Text and email saying offer issued, details to follow in the post!

    21/9 Exchanged on both properties
    24/9 Completed on sale
14/10 Due to complete on purchase
  • Hi,
Just wondering how long people are waiting after the valuation to hear any more about whether application has been successful? I had a text to say valuation report had been received and they are now looking at the report, any one know how long this usually takes?
    Thanks

We had our valuation on 6th July and a text the same day to say it had been received, we got our mortgage offer on 2nd August.

    Hi all

I recently applied to NW and have had hard searches on Equifax and Transunion, I then received a text saying valuation has been booked for 25/08. The house I am buying is fairly cheap compared to others on the market in the area, however it does have a hole in the ceiling where there was a leak in the bathroom. The leak has been repaired but the vendor has agreed to fix the hole once the current tenants leave, before exchange of contracts (the house is currently let).

Would the hole in the ceiling affect the valuation, even if the seller has agreed to repair it before exchange of contracts?

I'm getting ready to submit my second Nationwide application as the previous property fell through. It is over 2 weeks to get a phone appointment for my application  :s I might have to go through a broker due to the timescales.

@Moneybear if you're confident which mortgage product you want and your requirements are straightforward, you could apply via the unadvised website route which means you don't have to speak to an advisor.

This was the route we took as we were pretty clear we wanted a 5 year fix, so it was only decided if we wanted to pay a product fee. We just applied online following the DIP and uploading documation to the portal.

While this route won't be for everyone, I found the whole process from application to offer straightforward. Even when we've wanted to change products following a rate reduction, it was just a case of picking up the phone and the new rate was applied straight away.

Very good point. Unfortunately unable to use the website as I am applying through helping hand! The only option is via advice on the phone/video or broker.

    Hi everyone,
I thought I would join in for support as I hate waiting! We are first time buyers and have applied with NW 95% LTV.
The application went in on the 19th August, and had a text yesterday saying the valuation is booked for 3rd September.
Does anyone know the process from here onwards? Do they look at the documents after the valuation or have they already looked briefly?
what sort of time scales are people experiencing lately?
    Thanks soo much! :)
