  • Got the text that the valuation report was received yesterday at 6pm.
In June, on a previous property that fell through, there was 2 minutes between the text to say that the report was received, and the text saying a mortgage offer was sent out. All in all 5 working days from appointment to offer.

Now I'm stressing out that this one is taking longer... Did we just get lucky last time??

    Hi everyone,
I thought I would join in for support as I hate waiting! We are first time buyers and have applied with NW 95% LTV.
The application went in on the 19th August, and had a text yesterday saying the valuation is booked for 3rd September.
Does anyone know the process from here onwards? Do they look at the documents after the valuation or have they already looked briefly?
what sort of time scales are people experiencing lately?
    Thanks soo much! :)
Hi, I also applied for a 95% mortgage with NW. My valuation was booked on a Tuesday, I didn’t hear anything until the Friday when I got a text stating the valuation report had been received, immediately after I got another text saying it had been approved - exactly 3 hours later I got a text saying my mortgage offer had been issued. From application > offer, it only took 1 week. Super quick! :)

I'm getting ready to submit my second Nationwide application as the previous property fell through. It is over 2 weeks to get a phone appointment for my application  :s I might have to go through a broker due to the timescales.
Long time lurker here but in same boat. Currently a Nationwide mortgage holder and have had an offer accepted on another house so need to port existing mortgage and increase borrowing. Will be looking at at around a 70% LTV.

Having previously had a hard time trying to get through to someone at Nw who knows what they're talking about, I thought I'd be clever and apply online. We have been waiting for Nw to approve documents sent over to them so I finally got bored and rang up via my local branch, who managed to put me in contact with someone who actually knows what they are talking about.

Turns out we cannot apply online because we are porting, and the earliest appointment to apply with an advisor is Tuesday 7th Sep. That's over a month since our offer was accepted!

I never thought I'd be the one to be slowing up the chain. I'm so embarrassed.
  • Hi,
Had my valuation on 11th August, had a text to say the report had been received on the same day, but since then had heard nothing. My mortgage advisor rang them yesterday and turns out the deposit statement didn't have the account details on it so I sent another one with the details on yesterday.
I am worried about the length of time it's taking, im a first time buyer with 5% deposit so I'm quite stressed about it all. Anyone else's seemed to take a while or is it just me?
Also I havent yet paid for the searches because I was advised to make sure I had a mortgage offer first as if the mortgage falls through you won't get the search money back.
Anyone else in a similar situation?
    Thanks

A broker will do this for you far quicker.

Wow, that’s amazing congratulations! I’m hoping it moves fast once the valuation is done but you can never be sure, I’m so nervous waiting! They only asked for latest payslip and proof of deposit when we applied so not sure if they will want more before the offer?

I've had to go through a broker in the end. Appointment, DIP and application submission same day. It is the best £200 I've spent!

Hi all, been stalking this thread for a while now so wanted to join!

I'm a FTB, applying for a 90% mortgage with Nationwide via the Helping Hand scheme (applied direct with them over the phone). It's not been too bad so far as I was impressed with NW's email and text updates... until they sent me an email requesting additional docs that went into my spam folder and they didn't send a text along side it so I went for nearly a week without seeing it! :(

The 2 additional docs they wanted were straight forward (confirmation of something on my payslip & my most recent CC statement) but that almost makes it more frustrating that the request went into my spam as I lost so many days not seeing it... lesson learnt!

My valuation was completed last week and I received the full report this week from Connells which confirms that the market value is what I offered (phew!) but haven't heard officially from NW yet that they've reviewed it. I know the underwriters are looking at my application now so I'm just crossing my fingers, I can't believe how stressful it is!!

    Hi,
I'm around the same time frame as you, they asked me for my deposit statement again as the first one didn't show the account details, that was sent to them on Tuesday - it is very stressful and frustrating waiting isn't it. I'm in the quandary now of waiting for the offer before I pay for the searches as a solicitor I spoke to said not to pay for searches until offer comes through. But i feel I'm just holding everything up now waiting. Its a horrible feeling. Fingers crossed it all goes through!

I've done the same thing and not pay for any additional searches too! I know my sellers are keen to move ASAP so I just feel bad for not being able to provide any meaningful update. Doesn't help I'm a control freak so this all being completely out of my hands is a horrible feeling haha. So glad I found these forums - I find rereading everyone's stories really helpful  :D
