@mrebeccam93 I would imagine if its already been booked it will go ahead, ours have just been instructed and never booked by CW. We are waiting for them to bother even booking them! Many people who started the application after us have had valuations and offers, it seems there are some of us who have for all intents and purposes, ignored.
@catclaires That is very interesting and certainly sheds some light into why so many people have been experiencing completely halted cases due to valuations. What makes my heart sink a bit even though they are 'prioritising' older cases, it's not like ours will be actioned tomorrow because if availability has been given to applications that came after us, they can't magic availability for us until after the ones already booked have been completed. Starting to wish I'd applied elsewhere as on another forums other providers are massively quicker.

Soni caved and rang Nationwide as well 😬 they advised there has been an it glitch and the surveyors office are working tomorrow to get the missing cases booked and the backlog will be dealt with Saturday and Monday. A little bit of hope but as @kkcoco says is the unknown now is how far down the queue we will be as there will have been 2 weeks worth of bookings made in front of us 🤷‍♂️
Frustrating as until this point we had been well on track with solicitors and searches to make the stamp duty cut off , the whole process with nationwide has just felt a bit shabby and disappointing. 😬

Hi @patinstoke I called them again as I was really annoyed and to be honest wanted to know what this 'glitch' was, as wanted to know if this would be deemed a data security breach as how can you lose 3200 cases? Apparently its been an IT issue where for a number of days CW did not receive notifications of any instructions. I was told that they were alerted to this issue due to the many escalation emails they were receiving (so obv a lot more annoyed than just us). According to the representative I spoke to they have already managed to book 1200 surveys of those that were delayed (I'm assuming these were desktop bookings, no call centre is that quick at booking physical appointments) and like you were told they will be working Sat & Monday to catch up and expect to have all of them booked in by then.
I told them I was not impressed as they cannot magic availability from thin air so we will now be in a queue behind others who applied after us. She said that we will now be classed as their oldest cases and CW and Esurv will be working on these, prioritising our surveys. Hmmm well it all sounds like platitude to me.
Tempted to apply to another lender but then others are sorting offers in about 8-10 days, or I could just wait and hope that its done in a further 8-10 days. Feel a bit stuck as no one wants multiple hard checks on their file if they can avoid it. If the survey comes back as weeks and weeks away I think I will call around other lenders and see what survey companies they use and potentially apply elsewhere. All my accounts and several other products are with NW and was happy with the service, but this has been a shambles so far

@kkcoco im going to give them the chance tomorrow and Monday to see where we end up in the queue and go from there. Like you i have all our other accounts with nationwide too and generally their service has been brill. I'm guessing we're even more unlucky as we aren't even in in the 1200 that they've caught up on, the phrase omni shambles comes to mind!!

@kkcoco and @patinstoke gosh, definitely an omnishambles, but kind of good to know we've all been given the same story, so they're not just totally making stuff up, even if it is essentially platitudes we're getting at this point! I totally share your frustrations about timelines and thinking NW would be better than they were - the annoying thing was that I almost went with Halifax (who had a very similar interest rate at the time) but decided to go with NW because I'd had good experiences with them previously and also, the online application system seemed really straightforward and quick! Ha! I remember a lot of faffing with Halifax for a previous mortgage with them asking for documents multiple times, which had slightly put me off, but then I see on threads here that people are getting offers from Halifax within a few days - argh.

I'm also going to wait till the end of Monday and see where we are then - it is SO tempting to apply elsewhere right now, but I guess we wouldn't get much further with any applications over the weekend, so it's only wasting a day or so really if we do have to do that next week. It's a good idea to see when the surveys actually do get booked for - I think I'll definitely look elsewhere if it's going to take weeks.

Hope you both (and anyone else who's stuck) have a good weekend and manage to forget about this for a bit!

Morning all NW Valuation frustrated friends! So I received a text at 7am this morning that my valuation will be done at 8am on Monday, which is obviously good news. My only concern now is that this is just a desktop valuation which I did not want. The property I'm trying to purchase is by far the best thing I've stepped inside in over 12 months, the condition, the specification etc is just fabulous. If they simply compare it to the house next door on sold house prices with no context then I'm risking down valuation without a physical viewing. Next door sold to the tenants that were living in it at a lower than market value, who are currently completely renovating it as it was not remotely in the same condition and has had all the Victorian features stripped from it which mine still has (carries a value I'm led to believe & certainly does to me). Not only that mine has had a 150 sq ft rear extension and a conservatory extension and sits on a larger plot than the house next door, none of which they can see from a drive by or a laptop.

Morning @kkcoco glad they've contacted you and appreciate your concerns over the valuation 🤞🤞 did you have just a valuation? We paid for a homebuyers report too but not heard anything yet

Hi @patinstoke yes just having valuation via NW, but its also possibly because I'm 79% LTV - according to the EA most surveyors have been going for desktop for cases that are 80%ish LTV or lower. EA told me not to worry and said they do them all the time and it will probably be fine.

Well ours is 89% and with the homebuyers report as well, i guess they're getting all the easy ones ( desktop  and just valuations ) booked first :(  just gonna have to wait and see what Monday brings i think. Hope yours goes ok

@patinstoke - you couldn't make this up - mine now updated to Tuesday at 8am lol. Thank goodness I waited to find a 'gosh I love this I can imagine myself here for a long time' house, rather than a 'for now' house as I was sorely tempted to do when there was so little choice on the market - don't think my nerves could take this on a semi regular basis ha ha!
Fingers crossed your survey (and everyone else who's been affected in this farce) gets booked soon x
