Nationwide Mortgage

Hi everyone, we followed this thread a little to get an idea so felt it was only fair to post some information about our process which I hope helps someone.
90% LTV FTB (with Nationwide obviously)
Our circumstances are 1 full time, 1 part time (retail, no furlough). Part time had 4 year old settled default (overdraft) for £32. Dates were pretty much spot on the service levels but it was still nail bitting and stressful. We have had soft searches but strangely no hard checks.- Decision in Principle - Referred - 07 Sep 2020
- Decision in Principle - Subjective Accept - 09 Sep 2020
- Mortgage Appointment Booked for 24 Sep 2020
- Mortgage Appointment mostly consisted of selling insurance and checking the details provided during DIP were still correct.
- A valuation has been instructed. Booked for 09:00 30/09/2020 - 24 Sep 2020
- Valuation received and under review 30 Sep 2020
- Valuation reviewed and acceptable - 12 Oct 2020
- Question from underwriter as I moved my savings from one account to another and they did not have the statements for the original account. Told to expect update on 3rd Nov - 23 Oct 2020
- Called for update. Told document reviewed and approved, no update on online portal. So always worth giving them a call. Told to wait 2 more working days for head office to review. - 03 Nov 2020
- Mortgage Offer Received (received text, email went into Spam folder) - 05 Nov 2020

Just spoke with someone on the phone ref our mortgage, turns out me chatting with them made them do the “checks” that they hadn’t done yet 😠 although valuation has been done so I wonder whether they have done hard credit check? They’ve given me how long it will be until we hear and offer (which they’ve confirmed will be on same day) so hopefully if I chase end of this week something will have been done ☑️emma_829 said:
Good I’m glad you were able to talk to someone. Let me know how you get on Monday. Hopefully it’s good news for us all after the wait. 🙂MrsPelham said:
Thanks Emma, fingers crossed we hear something soon. Sounds like we’re at similar stages. Guy in the chat says likelihood is everything’s sorted and probably just sat in a like awaiting a stamp to go through so I’m giving them a call Monday to confirm. Has made me feel a bit better to talk to someone at Nationwide about itemma_829 said:
Yes it’s the same reference. Yes you probably could. I’d tried to ask my broker what the stages were and didn’t really get much, so I thought I’d been cheeky and ask the lender directly. Especially as Nationwide seem to have a different timescale and process stages differently for some applications. You could just speak to your mortgage consultant and yours is a different type of application to mine. I’m a FTB and new customer.MrsPelham said:
Hi, don’t have a reference number. We had the KFI is it the same reference? Surely I can just contact our mortgage consultant and find out what status is? We submitted payslips and docs required the day after and provided EA details and solicitors so they should have everything they need. We bank with Nationwide too and are porting and adding mortgage too up so was thinking no news is good news 😆emma_829 said:
Hi, my broker submitted mine on the same day. I think if you’re referred at the outset it’s 20 working days for them to review the initial paperwork. I got a text on the 19th to confirm the application was received, so it can’t hurt to give them a call. Do you have your reference number?MrsPelham said:Hi all, new to this forum stuff! Just can’t stand the waiting! We have had our joint mortgage “referred” as we’ve relocated and adding onto our current mortgage with Nationwide. Kind of hoping that no news is good news? We had KFI on 16/10 payslips and employer details more or less straight away requested and just sat tapping our fingers waiting now
we have used a nationwide mortgage consultant as that’s who we’re with anyway. Already have the deposit in the bank from the old house as we’ve already sold that and currently living with family whilst we wait for Nationwide to do their thing. Not sure whether to check in with Nationwide or not? Or just sit tight and wait? Keep seeing that people are receiving txts and things and have none of those yet
I called yesterday and the gentleman I spoke to on the phone was really helpful. Told me they needed more bank statements and my broker hadn’t been told that. Sorted that today and sent a bit more just to cover all basis. He even said that the documents have to be vetted and if they’re ok it goes for final checks. He said roughly 14 days after statements sent due to 7 working days per set of new documents. As such, it’s always worthwhile giving them a call. They’re helpful and explain everything to you.
want to be excited about new house but still feeling anxious 😦 1 -
They did my hard credit check on the day my valuation was approved.MrsPelham said:

Hi everyone,
I've been reading this thread for a while now as we are going through the mortgage process with a 90% LTV (FTB). We submitted our full application on 29/10. Valuation was booked and carried out the following day on 30/10. Nationwide received the valuation report on 2/11. Didn't hear anything since then but spoke to our mortgage advisor this morning and he said that a hard check has been done and we have passed all the check and it is now waiting for final sign off! We are taking this as a good sign, he said we should hear back within the next few days. Not sure why ours has been processed so quickly as have read some horror stories on here and thought we would have to wait at least a month for it to be processed. 7 working days seems very quick to us so hoping it isn't rejected!0 -
Oh that’s good news. Hopefully, you will hear in a few days then. It’s sounds like all the initial vetting has been ok. Let us know how you get on.sophljones2020 said:Hi everyone,

So my partner rang today and the person he spoke to today said they could see a valuation report from the 28th but couldn’t open it as they are working from home. So we are waiting to hear back from someone to find out what is going on as on Thursday they told us no valuation had been done. We applied on the 26th as a complex manual case as we are redeeming then porting and my mum is gifting us significant equity and then living with us. Fingers crossed for an update that makes sense soon!

As with other people have been following this thread as also going through why feels like a lifetime wait for a reply from nationwide and wouldn’t mind a bit of reassurance!85%LTV Shared ownership mortgage3/09 Application received
13/09 hard search
14/09 valuation took place
19/10 document about ground rent requested from FA
2/11 FA chased nationwide and told we would have definitive answer on 6/11
5/11 FA advisor gets an update saying “We've received all requested documents and your clients mortgage application has now been passed for full assessment. If we need anything further we'll let you know.”
9/11 still no wiser what’s going on feels like we are going backwards!! Have been advised that from the update could be another 7 - 10 working days. We are entering week 10 and I am very stressed and anxious waiting on a response!0 -
