I was hoping to avoid the early repayment charges by staying with NW. Spoke to a broker this morning and he thinks they are being very picky. He is going to argue it with them and if no joy apply elsewhere. I wish I'd have gone through a broker initially as all this waiting to start again. Turns out my other half has a credit card and store card I didn't know about.. livid, apparently there are no missed payments on these and they won't affect things but it would have been really nice to know before making a big financial commitment like this. What else am I not being told eh....0

FTB here, going through a nationwide mortgage and hope it goes smoothly...
90% LTV - could have borrowed more but settled for 81% of affordability, sent all payslips, 3 month bank statements, LISA proof and ID to broker.
12/10/2020 - application submitted
14/10/2020 - valuation booked for 16th October 2020.
Heard nothing since off nationwide through communication channels but through live chat have said that we are having document checked and now has gone to mortgage consultant? Query if this is the underwriter, said we should know in 24 hours but that has since come and gone...
hope you all get your offers through 🙂 will keep you updated.
So new timeline - As i can't set up a signature
12/10/2020 - Application submitted
14/10/2020 - Valuation booked for 16th October 2020
21/10/2020 - Hard search done on file.
28/10/2020 - Request made for LISA statement

I'm not overly impressed with NW's process and reading lots of negative comments on here about them, sounds as if I'm not in the minority. We've had to dance through many hoops to get our application submitted, something had I know about would have pushed me towards going with a broker from the outset. I hadn't come across this thread when I started, but have learned a lot from it since.
If we get declined, for goodness knows what reason... then I'll be going with a broker and taking all my banking business elsewhere!
Good luck

We’re on WD 28, I’ve emailed our broker as well to see if there’s an update as the EA has been in touch to see if we’ve heard anything about the valuation.I’ll be absolutely devastated if it’s bad news.0 -

So although I've been having a terrible journey I have had some really good interactions with the Nationwide agents on the phone and especially recently they've been super understanding and even said that I should just ring them any time I have a query or concern (I always express that our broker isn't the best). I just thought it's worth reminding people, though you are all a pleasant bunch that it's never the person at the end of the phone who's caused the issue (unless it's the solicitor or broker) and that being nice to them often gets you more assistance and reassurance!
Last week I was literally in tears, mostly because I just felt like I was stuck in quick sand with my solicitor on annual leave, radio silent broker and estate agents making me cry.
I've still not had any good news, in fact my salary was scrutinised by underwriters and they wrote it down from what it is and I have all the proof in payslips and P60s. We're now in another batch of assessment, but third time lucky... right?!First time buyer (FTB) - 90% Loan to value (LTV)

11/09 - Alert from Clear Score of hard check being carried out
25/09 - Spoke with Nationwide via 'web chat' box on their website and they confirmed our documents hadn't been reviewed yet
27/10 - request for payslips (even though they were provided to our broker at the beginning of the application)
31/10 - Mortgage appointment with Barclays to explore Springboard mortgage options0 -
Hello all,
I was really surprised today when I received two text messages from Nationwide. The first one stating they had received the valuation report and the second saying they had issued me with a mortgage offer 😁🙏.
So here is my timeline and some background information, I hope you find it helpful.
Background:
I am a FTB applying for 85% LTV mortgage. 75% of my deposit is gifted. Borrowing x4.5 my salary. I am married but I have applied in just my name. I have a fair credit score and have gone through a broker.
Timeline:
DIP: 03/09
Full application submitted: 14/10
Full application received: 14/10
Valuation booked: 14/10 for 19/10
Hard search shown on Equifax: 24/10
Valuation received 28/10
Mortgage offer issued 28/10.
My application took 10 working days. I was really surprised as I thought mine was quite a complexed case.
I hope you all get a response soon, good luck!!

Hi everyone, first post here and looking for advice. This issue is more concerning the buyer of my property but it’s driving me crazy.I put my property on the market early July. I got an offer on my first viewing which I accepted. The buyers AIP was with nationwide. I was buying a new build due to be ready in October. Turned out they wanted in the property early sept. We decided to go into rented accommodation at the end of August to let the sale go through and then gave away all my furniture for free. Found out 2 days before the completion date that the buyer still did not have his mortgage offer.
At the end of sept he found out his mortgage was declined and I was told my property had to go back on the market. I received another offer and then I found out the original buyer appealed his declined mortgage and had the decision overturned. I decided to stick with him to save time. That was a month ago and he still doesn’t have his mortgage offer. Nationwide asked for the ESW1 form on the 9th October and I keep getting told it will be the end of the week and then don’t hear anything.
I’m still in rented accommodation which is costing me an absolute fortune. Any advice if this is normal?0 -
Hey all just a question, do my valuation has been sent to the lender yesterday ( confirmed by the surveyor and also confirmed that he valued the property at the same price as I offered). I have reached out to NW and they said “everything looks fine on our ends” and the review of the valuation was scheduled by 4PM today. What are the next steps now until the offer is issued? I already had the hard credit search on both Equifax and Transunion and nothing else was requested. I know I’m being a bit impatient but I’m curious what else needs to be done 😁0
