6 hours seems to be my maximum sleeping time, Valli, which means that I nearly always wake at 6.00 or earlier - I think it's because the painkillers are wearing off
- and for me, it really isn't enough, which is why I often make the most of being retired and sneak in zzz after lunch.
More flingage achieved yesterday - all the bills for the work which was done on the house when we moved here in 2013, and some family history notes that I have checked are already recorded in / just added to my family tree program.
I moved out all the contents of the triple cupboard and now have a neat row of colourful ring binders gracing the top of the c-o-d in my bedroom (they didn't affect my sleeping!).
Today we are meeting up with DS2 and family for a picnic at the NT woods halfway between our homes - they have plenty of space for DGS3+4 to run off some energy, and a "shepherd's hut" takeaway van for drinks and excellent cakes for us all to replenish the calories usedThe car is already packed with the boxes of paper, clothes from DGS1+2 sent on via DGD1+2, bunting, and various other things to pass on [fer-ling] Later this afternoon DS1 is coming to demolish the cupboard and help me move bookshelves, and DH has a phonecall appointment with the orthopaedics team.
So before we go out I must
- shower and dress
- hang out the load of washing I did last night
- do another WMx1 and hang that out too
- shred a load of old paperwork (I emptied the shredder late last night and expect this will fill it up again)
- bake (already part-baked) rolls and fill them for our lunch
Hope everyone has a good day xx

Haircut Day - woot woot. I only have to resist the temptation to wield the scissors for 10 and a half more hours. I may have to sit on my hands but I can do this.
There's been a lot of stress flying around at work - it smacked me in the face on Tuesday but I had my purple latex 'shield' up after that - tiring though. I've been coming home, flumping in the chair, eating anything and everything that didn't require cooking and could be snaffled from the kitchen in the adverts (aka carp), and watching back to back episodes of NCIS ( Mark Harmon drool) with a Law & Order for dessert and bed at 10.
Minimal flying achieved as a result but Weekend Willi is poised and ready to jump in tomorrow.
The birds have been fed and the bird bath filled. No fairies here - but the sparrows are back, and Mr Blackbird. jackdaws, and lots of Freddies (wood pigeons), starlings and an occasional sighting of Mr Robin. Ah here's a Freddy now - looking for his breakfast.
Have a good day. Nearly weekend. Did I mention that I'm having my hair cut this evening?

Good morning
Yesterday’s flying did not go to plan neither to list. As a result I was very much hoping that Weekend Willi would be out and about, and, round, up you popped. Today will be another full on work day, so I am not even going to pretend that flying, other than the wm which is already on, will happen. I have just been out to the greenhouse to give the tomatoes a pep talk - it doesn’t look like this year’s crop will fill the freezer with passata as last year’s did, which is a bit disappointing and some.
Running late again - awake half the night, but still late leaving the house.Have a lovely Friday all. Enjoy the lightening load of the haircut, Round!6 -
Morning all
Tough week at work, 39 hours done in 4 days, lots of early morning site visits and late meetings, several big projects ongoing. I feel really pleased with what I have achieved at work this week and I am not fretting about not working today.
DH annoying me, he is also really busy at work and made a big fuss about the fact that I have a day off today. Lets not mention the fact that as well as doing a full week in 4 days I have kept the house clean and tidy, kept on top of the laundry and cooked a meal every night, and he struggles to move a mug from the living room to the dishwasher.
So, a day ahead with no real plans, what a luxury! Going to do my exercise class, have a late breakfast then decide. I might do a little flying but there will be some me time as well. Not sure that DS is OK, he has been very quiet this week and has spent a lot of time in bed, I think its his Crohn's but he doesnt want to discuss it. Will make him a cup of tea in a minute.
Enjoy the haircut Round sounds like you need a treat!8 -
YL 'there are none so blind as those that will not see' applies to your DH I think. *Valli is glad she is single*
Enjoy your free day.
Washing out on the lines, bunnies went straight into their run so they have been rewarded with a cabbage leaf from the 'allotment'. Actually it looks like they've eaten it so I might look for another (cabbage outer leaves).
Need to empty DW.

Round has the hair cut happened yet?YL I hope your son is ok and will talk eventually xWoops my car has failed its MOT, which means it is off the road until it is fixed, it needs one new rear shock absorber, the MOT garage cannot get them for my make of car it seems Honda are unusual around here!
however there is a repair garage within walking distance, so I am off down there to see what they can suggest, if nothing else good for my step count.

YL.. DS might not want to worry you.. not realising by not telling you he is worrying you more.. maybe he needs a little reminder of that!!
Blooming cat just knocked a box off the top of the larder unit onto my head so I now have a lump and a headache and 2 broken nails... He was having an anxious day and I just yelled at him so that will have helped! I think he did it on purpose because I de-flea'd him yesterday! I did the other 7 too but only he is neurotic!
3 smalls spent the night at dil's so I have Squeak here who is having a wonderful time as an 'only child'
I have sorted 8 carriers of shopping to be put away.. most is going in the shed.. tins and I have no room in the kitchen.
DW unloaded and redone.. that willbe about ready to empty again I think
2 loads of washing folded from the line, 3 hung out, 2 more done and 1 load of socks and undies thrown in the dryer.. no time for those!
Sides and cooker bleached, degreased and looking tidy..
Having a cuppa them poop-scooping the trays and sorting my scruffy self to take Pixie and Twinkle to opticians.. Squeak and Dot were there yesterday. The optician is a young woman, daughter of one of the guys who has worked there since he qualified and she was fantastic with Dot.. Dot of course was fidgetting and rolling about and looking all over the place and she was great with her.. she didn't get even a little bit huffy like they usually do. Dot now has the worst eye sight in the family and both doubled the strength of their prescription since their last appointment. Hopefully having better glasses will discourage her from eating the things.. but I do need a couple of extra pairs so will be sorting those asap.
so.. cuppa... DW.. WM's.. TD ... and.. oh, best feed the kittens, their bowls are in the DW so they are going to die of starvation!

Thanks all, good advice Pigpen I may need to be a little bit more direct with him. Trouble is if he ignores this and it is his Crohns he is going to just get worse.
Cleaned the oven, made up DS2s bed (his room is in danger of becoming a dumping ground so I made it look nice), have given the sofa a bit of a clean, did some hoovering, made curry, did some strength training and been for a bike ride. Mystery of the day is where the pillows have gone I am sure we had more than we needed but I could do with another two for DSs bed and I cant find any.
A little glass of wine now and feet up.8 -
My hallway and stairs have been vacuumed and dusted. I discovered the wire in the openreach box isn't actually connected to anything so that's gone now. Now that my router is no longer in the hall it looks MICH tidier. Have ironed all the washing and stripped and remade my bed. Meters read and updated with provider. Veg plot THOROUGHLY watered.

WAC for me last night, don't know why but very annoying.
Dug out a rubber glove to protect my thumb and did the washing up.
Mr N and I wandered up to village pub at 11 to check out their garden coffee and croissants- they have really been diversifying. Inspected village plum tree on the way home, a few more days and they will be ready.
Made a determined effort with the masks; messed one up so had a re-think and made 2 better, ordered more elastic.
Tidied some of lounge although more to do.
Checked greenhouse etc.
Removed 2 white butterflies from the kale nets.
Had a cycling visit in the garden by 2 friends.
Went for a run which turned out to be rather an adventure as it was a new route and I must have taken a wrong turning and ended up far from home. Decided to be sensible and summon Mr N to pick me up - I can now say my longest run is 11.1km and boy do my legs ache! Sorry Goodintentions I can say with some confidence that non Parkrun tomorrow is unlikely!
Tried to organise thoughts and plans for the next few days. DB ad SIL are visiting her mum in nearby care home tomorrow so happily will come round in the afternoon for garden lunch - rain forecast!Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8
