So much good advice on here but to be honest its over whelming even to me (in a good way)! I am literally a novice on these things (my own fault) so you can assume i have no idea what i am doing and just taking advice from you lovely people on here.

I dont want to get confused, and i know there seems to be an issue with the GAS situation from your replies. But to save me getting more confused i think if we can tackle the electric issue first then the gas after it would be easier for me to comprehend. (i do realise in a way its linked to some extent though)

@RelievedSheff - I have no idea but i am gonna tackle this when we get to the gas. There is defo an issue with the immersion being on all the time - but in reality would this be that much of a hike in costs?
@Gerry1 - good thinking, i will get some quotes in the next 24/48 hours once i know what i am doing!
@Hasbeen - heating off, only during winter its on as scheduled. Will do everything you say when i tackle the gas issue. Good points

You'll have missed the boat by then; indeed, one or both may have already sailed.  They only have 2000 switches each, and one of them was mine ! httpsimages6moneysavingexpertcomimagesforum_smiliessport-smiley-001gif

@Gerry1 - quick look on robin hood and they have quoted me the following for dual

1 year summer saver 92 pound per month DD
    2 year fixed 102.40
    1 year fixed 105

    most flexible 128 per month

What does this mean exactly? Will my parents pay this and no more per month? Is this a good offer? How do they calculate this when i havent given any details but the post code

Why pay say, £130 for electricity at 13p/kWh when you could use about £21 worth of gas at just over 2p/kWh??
That's quite a hike in my book.  Switch it off NOW !

The monthly amount quoted is based on a guesstimate of their usage from an average sized house. If they use more than the average house then they will pay more.
The only way to work out what they are likely to pay is to put in their usage figures from the last 12 months, which you are struggling to get an accurate idea of at the moment.
The other option is to take up the deal, given yourself time to work out what's happening, then cancel if you need to, if it turns out not to be suitable for them during the cooling off period.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

FORGET the £DDs, just compare on annual costs based on the kWh usage from actual meter readings.  The DD is just a contribution to a kitty that may or may not have enough in the jar to pay the bills.
The RHE / Ebico standing charge is relativity high, but with your parents' high consumption it's the very low pence/kWh price that counts.
It's never All You Can Eat: use more = pay more, just like a petrol pump, except that with a fixed DD it bites you in the bum much later on if you turn the wick up high.

@elsien @Gerry1 - i get it. I think i understand. Is there is way for me to get a quote based on the last years figures i have. On the robin hood side - i cannot see the option of that. I think i may sign up to this for my parents but curious to know what the quote is based on last years figures.

Is there a way for me to get this information

It's on there. Under the "how much energy do you use" pretty pictures.

"Got a previous energy bill to hand?

For a more accurate quote, let us know how much energy you use per year.

    Add my energy use"
