  • I managed to finally get a quote a month ago after contacting numerous suppliers of cavity wall insulation listed on the portal.. I submitted my application and since then have been asked to provide to the green homes grant site numerous personal documents including a bank statement, driving licence and even a copy of the deeds to our house!!!!  Still I haven't got any further a month later with my application.. I've been really worried also at giving them such detailed information that it was actually genuine, but the emails are from .gov.uk and I have phoned them and used their live chat... has anyone else had this kind of issue????
I think this is totally unacceptable and merely delaying tactics for them to give the funding...

Yes, lots of reports of similar in the more recent posts in this thread.  They seem to have a very convoluted process to check identities.  This is the process which a bank can often do in seconds when opening a new account, but which GHGS seem to take months to do, asking for more and more info as they go (if you're lucky - many have found they don't ask until you ask them why the application hasn't progressed).

Why they are like this is anyone's guess.  They seem massively incompetent at checking identity.

It is, of course, possible that they're just massively incompetent at the whole application for a grant process and have invented the 'we need more documents from you' story as a cover story - making us think it's somehow our fault for not sending stuff they they never asked for and actually don't need.  And which makes it look like there's a reason for the delay.  But that would be crediting them with some form of strategy to placate customers, and I don't think they're that clever.

I noticed the GHG brigade have done 2 soft searches on my Experian credit report, one middle of February the other one 1st of March under the name 'department for business energy and' maybe that's good news or is that wishful thinking, and why do two in such a short time, just the 5 1/2 months and still waiting, have emailed my MP couple of weeks ago too
  • Are there any installers of insulated conservatory roofs under the Green Homes Grant scheme?
I’m looking to replace my existing conservatory roof (polycarbonate) with a solid insulated one. I’ve checked with BEIS that my situation would qualify for a grant but haven’t been able to find any installers on the scheme. I am looking for someone prepared to work in South East England.  Any suggestions for companies gratefully received.
    Many thanks
  • Has anybody been successful in finding accredited installers for replacement front doors?

Finally received my voucher after almost 6 months for flat roof insulation. I then received an email from my installer........

‘A mandate issued by TrustMark in January 2021 insists that ALL wet rooms in a property having insulation fitted under the Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme are fitted with a working extractor fan. (Wet rooms include kitchens, utility rooms, bathrooms, shower rooms and ensuites.)

If extractor fans are required to be fitted in your property, you can either resubmit your quote to GHGVS to include them or self-fund the installation of the fans.’

So unless you have extractor fans in all these locations, you can’t have any insulation work done. I do have extractors in all but my utility room. Unfortunately, the only outside wall space is fully taken up by my CH boiler, so it looks like I won’t be getting the work done. Given the GHG have thrown all sorts of obstacles in the way of applications, I’m surprised they haven’t used this as a criteria to refuse/delay applications.

Who is the installer?  I would have expected them to mention this to you back in January when the mandate changed, and when you would have had more time to resubmit to GHGS.  It seems to me that the problem here is your installer, not GHGS.

Edited to add: Having thought about this a little more, and googled, and finding nothing, I have to say I wonder whether the statement they made to you is completely true.  All wet rooms (defined as kitchens, utility rooms, bathrooms, shower rooms and ensuites) in the property?
It seems an onerous condition - and arguably hardly logical if, say, the flat roof being insulated is the single storey extension out the back and the bathrooms are all on, say, the third floor.  Perhaps you should ask them for full details.

I agree I have replied stating that the utility room is nowhere near the flat roof area. I am just waiting for their response.

I would also be interested in the definition of a ‘utility room’ and why it’s lumped in with the other areas mentioned. Mine is a narrow room with washing machine, tumble dryer, CH boiler and some kitchen units. There is no sink or running water (aside from the washing machine feed).

Finally got agreement for an extension to my voucher. Extension email states we have extended the expiry date of your voucher by 90 days following the original expiry date.
The original expiry date is 31st March 2021 and it has been extended to 7th June 2021. No wonder the scheme is in a mess they cannot do simple mathematics. The difference between the two dates is 68 days not 90. Anyone got a spare abacas to lend them.

Went on chat again, got told it's in the queue again, can't tell me anything else again.

No sign of the protal to track it, can't tell me where in the process I am, can't tell me how many stages the process has, can't explain how they were meant to have all work done by the end of this month yet still haven't processed the vouchers for those who applied over 4 months ago, yet apparently have taken on more staff in this time.  Can't say why others that have applied much later have vouchers, or why those who applied earlier have not.

Basically pointless, wonder how much of our tax money they got for this?
