Had an eMail this week - at timed 00:30 asking for information I'd already sent to them 2 months ago.
Why they couldn't ask for the info (copies of Deeds, Bank statement, Council Tax and Utility bills) to be supplied with the application form.
    When you originally apply?

I had 2 emails yesterday stating the following (which I gather is nonsense, they say we can Appeal),
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'We have reviewed your application and a measure you have applied for as part of the scheme, Heating controls, has been determined to be ineligible for grant funding as:

The measure submitted is not eligible under the conditions for the Green Homes Grant.

If you would like to appeal the decision, please follow the instructions below. Once you have gathered any supporting information, please send it to the Appeals Office at appeals@green-homes-grant.service.gov.uk'

Hi all success face / good news story...
I applied for my GHG on Monday 29th March and received my voucher on 21st April. My installer is starting the work on 7th June and it should take about a week. My experience has been hassle free. FYI I’m getting an ASHP Valliant 7kW plus system for a total £10,500 installed in Lincolnshire replacing my old oil system. With 5k from the voucher and 5.5K funded on a 0% credit card coupled with the RHI payments this just make a sensible investment as I will be paid back in full after 7 years (so have a free ASHP system). Thank you GHG team! (and to MSE for letting me know this grant even existed.)
I spoke to my installer today to finalise the prep for my start date. He said he was shocked at the speed my grant was processed. I am 1 of 19 customers who applied for the GHG over its course for the either an air or ground source heat pump. I am the only customer who has been issued a grant to date and in "record time", some date back to November last year. A few customers have been rejected being told he is not on the Trustmark register despite entering in the correct certificate number???. I must be really lucky and can empathize with all of you who are not getting prompt and sensible responses. I hope this scheme clears its backlog and you all eventually get the grant you are entitled to.

There seems no rhyme nor reason or order of issue with these vouchers. We applied in January for an air source heat pump. Umpteen phone calls, emails backwards and forwards with ID, some of which are repeats, and an email to our MP last week. Maybe it’s done by location (we live in Devon) who knows? but I’m really pleased for those who have received vouchers to date.

Maybe there are one or two competent people issuing vouchers and a whole load of incompetents?

Not ideal for everyone but there is still a plan B....
For those who are applying for a GHG that is also eligible for RHI payments then the only benefit of this grant is that it takes £5k out of the up front cost. So if you are able to fund the whole cost without the GHG for example on a 0% credit card then it might be worth considering your own cut off date rather than waiting/chasing/hoping the GHG will be issued as the RHI scheme closes 31st March 2022 and missing out on this is far more significant than the GHG.

The RHI pays quarterly so suggest using the payments to pay the minimal (and more) payments on the 0% CC then keep balance transferring at 0% for the 7 year RHI deal.

Below is a "link" (Google it as i'm not allowed to post links) to the MCS spreadsheet used to predict RHI payments based on your chosen technology, EPC and system flow rate. You can end up making a profit depending on the above mentioned variables.

  • Has anyone had a full rejection after appeal?
Just think this process is ridiculous. Only having one install that could give me a quote at the time. I called to enquire in November earliest quote date they could give was in February. Got the quote sent it off. straight away after a month without a response, I chased it up. They stated they sent me an email that they requested more information. I asked when but they couldn't provide proof, either way, I sent it. After another month I was told the quote was too high and has been rejected. I was quite confused as this one of the government-approved installers and not someone I pick. Either way went back to the installers and explain the situation. They were as confused as me and they stated in recent weeks the government has been knocking back a lot of applications and my application was no different from the ones they have already approved. Either way, after appealing it has been rejected. So after 6 months nothing and waste of time. I knew this was going to happen when the government ended applications in March. It's a joke and this should be raised higher up. Possibly Martin has a word with someone about this.
