Hi all. ELLIE - accounts done - well, apart from getting DH to go through them so that, if they're wrong, it's his fault! Once I got going on them, it didn't seem too bad. Glad you're not too sad about your job. I'm sure a better opportunity will present itself in the New Year.
CHURCHMOUSE - Happy Birthday to him anyway!
CRAZY - thinking of you. It must have been difficult at work today.
FROGGA - all smoke alarms checked! Thanks for the reminder. We usually check them regularly but, I must admit, we haven't for about 4 months.
GRANNYBROON - DH taught DS1 to drive - I only went out with him once and he used to try and steer into the hedge every time a car came in the opposite direction. We both taught DS2 - never, ever again. My feet were constantly pressed against the floor of the car trying to hit the virtual brakes! Having said that, though, they each only needed about 14 proper lessons; DS1 passed on the second attempt and DS2 on his first (which, of course, he gloated about for ages). They have both become excellent drivers and are braver than I am. I get lost very easily! I won't tell you how many attempts I had but I know it's not quite as many as one of us on here has admitted to today!
MEANMARIE - I make sure I never have to do any panicky present buying on Christmas eve - I hate shopping at the best of times - but DH and I love to go out anyway and just enjoy the atmosphere in all the shops.
REDRUBY - hope the eardrops are doing their job, and have a drool over Jonny for me; my real hero is Colin Firth but I could quite easily enjoy Jonny Depp if Colin wasn't available!
Well, I'm just about to put the left-over stew on for dinner; I've made some soft rolls to dunk. I've also made a rice pudding for DH because he loves it - aren't I kind?! (I really made it because it's easy!) The curtains are drawn and the lamps are on - I quite like it when you can shut the bad weather out in the evenings. I'll catch up on my knitting tonight; I didn't get any done over the weekend because my sister and I didn't stop talking and I couldn't concentrate.
Well, I'd better get that stew on.
See you all later.

Hi Mioliere
DH passed on second test, me on first, DS on third (should have been second but he did something really silly) and DD on first!
Hope your sister comes to join us!
Frogga - check the fire alarms regularly (manually plus when grilling!!!!!!). Thanks for such an important reminder.
Love

You lot who've done all your Christmas shopping. YOU MAKE ME SICK.
Churchmouse The quiche was lovely. Leftovers for tonight.Maybe you could go in the same home Twink's off to. Keep her company.
Kyle I got my license when I was 18. Passed first time. Of course. :rolleyes:My kids didn't though. Second time for the three of them. Guess who teased.
Granny You sit back and have a nice sherry dear and relax.
Well my coffee is drained so off for a quick surf and then get ready to toddle off for the day. Hope you all have a good nights sleep. ByeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Evening All
Well Im sitting in a hot house here. B Gas man couldnt fix the heating properly as as expected needs to order some parts, however he has bodged it so its on & I have hot water, problem is it needs to be on all night. Needless to say I have just put a load of washing on the rads.
Lots of office work done but lots more to do as I am doing month end. Also didnt manage any ironing.
Dont know what will get done tomorrow, gas man hopefully will be back with someone and will fix it once and for all.
Off now for a surf then an early night.

Well at last I've managed to do something! The site has been really playing up for me tonight. Ages to change pages, wouldn't let me thank people, wouldn't let me post
Kept diving off to other sites and they were fine:rolleyes:
Glad you liked the quiche Aussie. I'm sure twink and I could be the best of friends, in our home for exceptionally gifted, kind, lovely people ( to which you would not be admitted:p ) :rotfl: Although twink you almost worried me into checking DS's birth certificate, but I know I am right;)
Essex girl, I think it's probably best to bake rather than freeze, but do hope they sort your heating tomorrow.
kyle, I didn't pass first time, but I am an excellent driver (most of the time:rotfl: ) You should learn, as others have said, it gives such freedom. I had four kids before I learned, aged 31. It was just so galling when DH was on nights, and I went out in pouring rain with 4 kids, and had to walk past our car sat doing nothing.
Let's hope it'll let me post, fingers crossed! You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Your post is completely blank Churchmouse.
Hope the gas gets sorted out for you tomorrow Essex Girl.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
I am crying buckets. It is our 36th anniversary tomorrow, DH bought the steak tonight so we have a lovely dinner - he has put my card out and I can totally not find the card I bought months ago for him. He knows I am upset but this has never happened before.

 Aussie...that's just plain rude. And stop encouraging granny to deplete her Christmas reserves.
Well I got as far as getting the ironing board out and dragging all the ironing downstairs but OH has fallen asleep on the sofa so I took the opportunity to nip on here.
Roast chicken had to turn into Chicken and mushroom pie as FIL came for tea and I needed it to stretch.
Am absolutely knackered now. Today was loooonnnng so I should really go to bed.
Hope everyone had a good day. x0
