REDRUBY - good luck for tomorrow, hope it goes well. And ((((hugs))) for DD. Did the Dr give her antibiotics?

ELLIE - good luck with the home visit.

Well, I've been to the bank and done a bit more shopping and managed to finish all the present buying; I still have a lot of wrapping-up to do and some more Christmas cards to write but they will get done through the week. I shall try and organise an hour a day on that. I've got everything ready here to type up DH's business accounts - except the motivation! It's a horrible job but I know it won't take long so I really should get on with it.

The weather has turned cold and wet now - and it was lovely this morning. Oh well, I suppose it is December. Where has this year gone?

Anyway, I'm going to put my halo on and start this paperwork. Will drop in later.

    Good Afternoon all

    Hope we are well
Didnt have time to post/read thread this morning.
Had an OK day at work, considering! The atmosphere was rather gloomy and spent most of the day hugging people.

Cant believe how icy cold it is today! I have to venture out later to take DD to Judo. Really cant be bothered!

Dlb - hows ds1 today! Did the gas people turn up?
moiliere - well done on finishing the shopping! I still have a few bits to buy! But I hate shopping this time of yr! I get panicky just thinking about it.
Ellie - hope the visit went ok!

Right best be off, get uniforms ironed for tomorrow before the school run!
    Take care

    Well I'm back and I've got my tree:j :j :j

DH has sawn a bit off it's bottom and now it's sitting in a bucket of water, hopefully having a good long drink:D Can you tell I'm pleased? And it didn't cost that much, really, not if you think of all the pleasure I'll get, and I am worth it, because the L'Oreal advert says so!!!! (don't tell everyone, but it was a smidgen under £20)

Mioliere, I was having a senior moment earlier (trying to keep up with twink who doesn't remember which year kyle was born:rotfl: ) my DS3's birthday is Friday, not Thursday:o I do know the date, honestly!!!, had just worked out the day wrongly;)

Managed to clear 3 more Christmas presents, and to get DS3's birthday presents. Nobody can ever accuse me of being too well prepared:D

redruby, hope DD gets better soon. Earache is vile, hopefully the antibiotics will kick in quickly.

Off to load up the WM again. Where does it all come from?

Thanks for the good luck vibes. (you know who you are x) Well the boss and the bloke from personnel (who looks just like my brother but was a lot nicer  ) have just left. Basically the outcome of the meeting was that I’m probably gonna get dismissed after a hearing in the New Year. Told them I’ve never been sacked before! :A First time for everything. At least that way I get a week’s pay for every year served, so 6 weeks. Doesn’t seem much for 6 years but it was more than expected so cant moan. Plus annual leave that I’ve not taken. Could work in my favour really, cos I didn’t want to go back there anyway. ;)
REDRUBY~ hope your DD gets better soon. Earache is on a par with toothache, both bloody awful. Hope you get on ok tomorrow at the hosp.
MIOLIERE~ hope you got the accounts done. If not would a kick up the bum motivate you! :p
CHURCHMOUSE~ well done on the pressies. (Don’t like to gloat but I’ve done mine and wrapped them all)

    Afternoon all,

Hugs to all who have an ill parent, rough at Christmas.

Did a big shop to-day, got soft drinks for Christmas, we don't normally have anything except juice in the house. Also bought frozen turkey about 16 lbs weight so won't last very long, and 9 of the choc oranges which are a must in stockings here, so pleased enough, will send OH out on Christmas Eve for anything fresh that we need as I refuse to go into the mayhem of Christmas Eve unless I have nothing to do and not very much money so that I can't be tempted to spend needlessly.

Ham, turnip, cabbage and mash for dinner to-day yogurt and/or fruit for pudding.

  • Hi everyone,

Ellie - hugs after your meeting.
Redruby - good luck for tomorrow and hope your DD soon feels better

((((hugs))))) to SOMO1 and Hilstep and to anyone else in need of one today.

Had my first day of volunteering at the Mission this lunchtime and it was good fun - mostly clearing tables etc - but I did get to learn how the DW works. I think I will definitely apply for this bookkeeping job now - I quite enjoyed being out of the house for a bit - I've had 3 years at home - I always worked p/t before that.

I got all my Christmas cards this morning and dh and I finished most of the shopping yesterday - just stocking things and a few bits for dh to get. We didn't buy each other anything for years when we didn't have the money so it's quite nice to treat him now.

Beef casserole for dinner tonight - one of the nice things about volunteering is that I get a lovely, free meal in the cafe when I'm there - chicken breast with mushrooms, chips and cabbage today - but everyone else will be starving by 8pm so a casserole and wedges should do them without me having to do too much:D . I'll bung loads of veggies into it to save doing any extra.

Off to tackle the mountain of clean washing in the kitchen now.

    Have a good afternoon

Thanks to everyone who sent me ((((((((HUGS))))))
Pooky I've had my DD's 18th birthday cake, and my parents' 50th Anniversary cake from Tesco. (The photo ones) and they've been really nice.
Lovely sponge cake with jam and cream filling. They ask what you want in the way of words, type it in and then print it on what looks like rice paper, then slide it onto the cake. Been really pleased with the results.

Well, still recovering from having all 3 DGSs at weekend. Took this afternoon off and almost tackled the washing, Mount Everest ironing has gone but the washing now being done is replacing it!!!!!!!!!!

Just been through at my neighbours and their sofa bed (not very old) going to tip will replace ours in the study (13 years old). Have an uplift for ours on Friday morning so should be sorted with the new one at the same time. DH will need neighbour to help to get ours downstairs and new one upstairs here.

So sorry to hear today about parents and sisters. My thoughts are with you all. My DMIL phoned last night (she is 88) and her brother in Whitby has had to go into care last week and really going down hill fast. I think DH might have to go to Yorkshire before Christmas for a funeral. His uncle has given up the will to live and he is totally altzeimers.

Hope all OK with everyone else. I know there are some poorly sprogs too today.

Kyle - get driving, honest best thing for you. We gave our two driving lessons as 17th birthday presents and totally persevered with it. I must admit to grey hairs from the days of driving practice!!!!!!!!!!!! DH much better than me! Both of them say that was one of the best things we did for them.

Love to everyone. Going to hang up the next washing!
