Morning chums ,
well my eldest dd survived being the big 40 yesterday and she had some lovely presents, from not only her work mates but from people who live nearby and folk she has helped over the years. I stayed at her house on Saturday night with her two teenage children whilst her and her husband took themselves off to the big city for a night out in a nice hotel and a bit of time to themselves .They both lead such busy lives (he's a surveyor) and she is a school administrator that it's not often they get time to just be on their own .The kids behaved beautifully ,even her daughter who can be a bit of a handful at times. She was very good and decorated the sitting room with balloons and banners so when her Mum came home yesterday morning she has quite a surprise.
I came home in the afternoon then my youngest DD picked me up, and I went to her house for dinner and some rowdy games of Hangman with her little boys .I saw all the grandchildren this week end, and bless them they were really good. They know that Granny isn't quite up to scratch, and as mobile as normal at the moment ,but they were really good and kept saying 'Your're not too tired are you' and getting me numerous cups of tea.
I went off to sleep last night and thought I really am so lucky with my tribe, they are healthy, and apart from being rather noisy, they are all good kids.
This morning I was having a lovely snuggled down sleep, and suddenly shot out of bed with cramp in my leg calf .I was so cross as its been ages since I had had a really deep sleep. That'll teach me to get too complacent with life won't it.
I have some more Christmas cards to make this morning as my youngest DD snaffled the ones I had made on Thursday and Friday. So it's scissors and glue pens and paper and card out this morning as I intend to get them all done ,written and ready for posting.
I also have to make four birthday cards between now and Christmas as I have some birthdays coming up as well. All of my birthdays in my family seem to be between November and March I don't seem to have any in the summer at all.
Tommorow I'm of to my craft class with my pal from Dartford ,it's her birthday as well tomorrow .
Wednesday I have my hairdresser coming to trim what's left of my hair into some sort of shape .
Thursday I'm off to Maidstone for some retail therapy with my DD and little granson Mikey
Friday morning I have the Nativity play for the little ones school, wads of hankies for that I think, then in the evening I have another grandsons school concert to go and watch. So I have a busy week ahead of me. It's not all beer and skittle being retired you know I take my 'Grannying duties ' quite seriously:D
Only 22 days until Christmas ,where has this year got to.It seems to go quicker the older you get. All my decorations and tree are up, and it's looking quite jolly in my sitting room.
I have the district nurse coming to give me a check over this morning and I have a big box of sweets to give to her to take back for all the girls who have been so helpful with me over the past three months .They really are wonderful ladies who can't do enough to help you when you are not feeling up to doing things for yourself.:j
Well <<hugs>> to those in need and a bigto the rest of you .I hope you all have a good week and try not to stress to much ,what you don't get this year remember Chistmas will be here again next year, and you'll still be rushing around then as well

Morning everyone, 7.07 and already 10 before me before I start typing.
Still sorting out PC's in between doing kitchen, must tidy up spare bedrooms and lounge today (make some piles and get them filed!)
You are correct Hester, the way to remember it is the envelopes, stationery has an e for envelopes in it.
SOMO1 -:grouphug: re your Dad, must have been a shock to find out like that.
Hillstep -:grouphug: lost my Mum 4.5 years ago after spending 6 months in hospital after a stroke slowly deteriorating, and still have Dad with dementia for the last 4 years, who has no idea of anything going on around him or of us. Lost them both before they died IYKWIM. Its not nice.:grouphug:

Massive (((((((hugs))))))) to PRINCESSTIPPYTOES - for your sister, to HILSTEP, for your Mum and to STESSEDOUT, for your Dad. Thinking of you all and those of you who are feeling unwell or have poorly children.
Well, DH has just left so I've whizzed round upstairs and had a tidy up; measured out the water for the BM. By the way, I have shown my sister the joys of the BM. She has had one for ages and had no success with the recipes in her manual so she gave up trying, so I printed off the ones in the indexed collections that work for me and she has gone home inspired enough dig her BM out of the loft. I shall wait with bated breath to hear the results.
I really should not be on here because I have so much to do but I've missed you all so much so I'm treating myself to five minutes with a coffee. We haven't put our decorations up yet. It's DS2's birthday on Thursday and we have always waited until after his birthday before putting them up so that his day is definitely a 'birthday' and not just part of the run-up to Christmas. He moved into his own house last December (I can't believe it's a whole year ago) but I still feel I want to wait until after he's had his birthday. We'll probablly put them up next weekend. That will take all day - it always does because I get carried away and like to put decorations everywhere - I even have a little tree for the windowsill in the loo. I also like to do something different with the fireplace and mantlepiece each year and we have a little corner shelf in the hall that I put another tiny tree on - the grandchildren love that one so I try and make it different each year. The only problem is that my DH bought a beautiful big pine blanket box earlier this year and it is sitting in the place where the main Christmas tree usually goes so we might have to move things about. Oh, well, it's all part of the fun.
I have three more presents to get which I will try and buy this morning when I go out; then I must get on with the wrapping up. My sister took presents back with her so that's one lot done. I have to post quite a few presents and that limits the sort of things I can buy - I don't want to have to pay an awful lot for postage. One year, it cost me more in postage than the contents were worth for one present. I've never been caught like that again!
Dinner tonight is the rest of the huge stew that I made for us all on Saturday - I made loads because we had visitors but it was way too much. My sister said 'I bet you're hopping mad at the waste'.'Oh, no', I said, 'I'm far too MSE OS to be mad. That will be our dinner on Monday!'
Of course, because we had visitors, my DH did not get round to trying to mend the hoover which broke last week. He said we should get another one but I'm loathe to spend the money so close to Christmas. I have a little mini-hoover which I shall use for now and get him to look at the other one this weekend.
Well, I suppose I had better get on with my lovely housew**k, so see you all later.

Morning everyone,
Hugs to all those feeling low and poorly. :grouphug:
Have really got to up my game this week as the hols are drawing closer and the house is not at its shiniest.DS1 leaves the college he works at a week on friday and so officially breaks up for his hols until starting work with Dad on 2nd Jan. DS2 is having an extended xmas hols so he can enjoy this unexpected break with his big brother. Being home -ed does mean we can be flexible about holidays but will have to work like trojans this week and next to cover the work set.
Cats driving me bonkers going in and out in the rain. She whinges to be dried off each time and then goes out again almost immediately. Think she enjoys the game but I feel sorry for her wet as she's old and her joints are nearly as stiff as mine, poor little mite.
Off to load BM and swish and swipe the kitchen before beginning a massive batch bake for the freezer.
Have fun everyone.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Morning all
Sounds like a group hug is needed this morning :grouphug: , hugs to all those in need.
Kyle - I don't drive - I took lessons when I was 17 but got made redundant before I put in for my test - never got round to it after that. I do find it hard sometimes that I can't just "pop" to pick something up and have to rely on others or public transport. We can't afford a 2nd car so I don't see the point in learning again at the moment, DH works 55miles away from home so I can't even drop him to work and use the car, plus I think I'd probably end up spending far to much on petrol and the "ohh I'll just pop in to town for....."
It is on my list of things to do when the time is right though.
Well I spoke to soon on Friday, DD2 is very poorly again - not with the sicky bug but with a "viral" infection that sounds like it's turning to croup - she was hospitalised with croup a couple of years ago so I'm keeping my fingers crossed she starts feeling better soon....she'll be going for a nice steamy bath in a bit to try and ease things.
Not got our tree up yet, I need to reorganise the living room this week to try and fit it in. Also need to run the freezer down a bit more and make a list of whats left to buy.
Getting one of those photo cakes done for my parents wedding anniversary - has anyone tried them - I can get it done at tesco or asda but haven't tried either of their cakes before.
Roast chicken last night so the rest of the meat with mash and veg tonight or a soup if there's not as much meat as I think.
Hope you all have a lovely day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
