MornING all - feeling very hard done by as I have to go to w*rk this am. normally on a monday dd lifts my poor befuddled head from the pillow to tell me she's off to school and I go AAAAARGGGHHHH what time is it! and she says it's monday and i go back to sleep - but alas not today.
got to go to dd18's on the way to w*rk and get her up. her IS didn't come into her acocunt so she borrowed the money off me and then picked up a letter from her box to say her HB had stopped as she is no longer entitled to IS - nightmare. She says that she had no warning but her letter box is decidedly unsecure - she can pick the letters out without using her key so who knows. Anway it will be a day at the DSS (or whoever they are these days) for her - god how I hated having to do that. Not much better off working but at least I don't have to deal with all that bureacracy (well as a civil servant myself I just dish it out now). As I have no childcare for mondays dd11 will walk up to hers after school so she needs to be back by then.
Tea tonight will be a nut and courgette loaf that I made last night - just the veggies to do when I get inI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Aussie that wasnt praise you were giving me was it, i nearly choked on my wee porridge

Morning everyone,
Just nipping in for a mo.
My slow cooker (bought with ipoints) arrived on thursday. The ceramic insert was absolutely smashed to pieces.
Friday I rang amazon who sent me another one which came on Saturday
It'll be its first task today.Liver and Bacon.
We have put the Electric bit of the first slow cooker away safe as it was undamaged along with its glass lid(we were advised to bin it as amazon were having problems about returns:eek: ).
I had a nice suprise last weekend of a cheque for £50 which I won in a prize draw.Thats sitting safely in the bank now.:j
Ive got presents to wrap this week. Must hunt around the house for suitable wrapping medium. I save last years wrapping but it does get a bit manky after a few goes.
Also ,must decide what to do re crackers this year. I have two boxes bought reduced in January and will open and refill them. Sometimes I remake the whole thing but this year will probably just substitute the gifts and jokes.
We'll must crack on
Hugs to all

Morning all
So many people today with illness or relatives who are poorly - BIG HUGS TO YOU ALL! Puts things into perspective doesn't it?
Just wanted to mention you can start booking slots for Tesco or probably others very close to christmas now if you hurry. I think tomorrow will be xmas eve booking available on tesco. got a code so that delivery was practically free. Saying that its also a great time of year for bargains when the shops are going to close up / close early for a day or so.
Well today I am going to put to bed my monthly spending budget and see just how much was spent and where for November  . I also run a monthly check on gas and electric meter readings to see how much I'm using and it gives me the strength continue to keep these down as much as I can. I keep a notepad and pen handy and check them every 4 or 5 days. I then put them on computer so I can see how it compares to month's previous. Also need to do meal plans and the weekly plan as SO is off tomorrow and there is potentially so much we could do but I know we will probably run out of steam / time before we get everything done. Rattling on now better go.
take care everyone!

:santa2: Good Morning!
((((hugs)))) to Hillstep - lost my Mum to parkinsons disease 12 years ago and it still hurts.
Frogga - I have just tested my smoke alarm and made the puppy jump!:D yep it's working and you are quite right to nag about this it's very important.
I have decided to do what I did last year and just put up 1 decoration a day, a kind of advent tradition here now. So far have a reindeer on skis, a santa with legs that dangle over my bookshelves and today will put up a festive green bow with card holder attached. The bedrooms are almost all sorted out for my family staying overnight on Wednesday and I am going to pack for Cologne today so that I can relax and rest up as it is a really early start on Thursday. I shall make a huge crockful of turkey stew and veg dumplings in the sc for the family as they will be arriving late from London.
We have started trying out the "Portfolio eating plan" which is basically a diet that includes food that "eats" cholesterol, oh had raised blood pressure recently and my sister in law has raised cholesterol levels and has been on this way of eating and recommends it. I googled it and printed off some lovely recipes - last night was Red Chicken Curry (I used turkey) and the night before was Smoked Mackerel and avocado salad with horseradish dressing which was lovely, some people go vegan on this eating plan but oh wouldn't cope with that! Also made the blueberry muffins which were the best muffins I have ever had! Tonight will be soy based but have to decide what.
Love all the christmas avatars! :xmassmile
(((hugs))) to all those feeling poorly hope you feel better soon!

Good morning everyone:D
((((hugs))))) for all the poorly ones, and those recovering from ops etc. Hilstep, that is so sad about your mum. It's a hard wrench when you lose them, 21 months ago for me.
kyle don't do it!!! Learn to drive yes, yes, yes......... learn from Haribo, No, No, NO:eek:
Hope you enjoy the quiche Aussie, good job you're so far away, just in case you don't:p
Mioliere, my DS3 has his birthday on Thursday too:D We always waited until after that to put up decs, otherwise it seemed to get swallowed up and wasn't *his* day. I can see it's harder to do when the birthdays are closer to Christmas. My Nephew is 20th, and my friend's little girl is 24th, so no choice there.
Today is shopping, general and hopefully some Christmas stuff. Then I want to get the tree, although it will live outside in a bucket for a few days yet. Must have my real tree:D They're saying the prices are rocketing this year:eek: Oh well I'd rather have that than a lot of other stuff;)
I've been to the gym this morning, we've just had a new state of the art one open. Wow is it swish:cool: Couldn't recognise any of the equipment:o The novelty of it will alleviate the tedium for a few days:rotfl:
Well must get on,
CMxYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Hi - another cup of coffee and what better way to enjoy it than to get back on here. I was almost ready to go out but both the wheelie bins are being collected as I type so I'll wait until they've left the road.
PENNYPINCHER - hope you start feeling better soon. (((Hugs))) to you.
CHURCHMOUSE - yes, that's exactly how I feel about birthdays at the beginning of December. DS2 was due on Boxing Day so, if he'd been less impatient to arrive, he would have to put up with the decorations. Sometimes birthdays are awkwardly timed. My DH has his at the end of March and, when he was little, his parents just used to get him Easter eggs as presents! How convenient! All his friends used to get toys, even his other brothers did when it was their turn, but all he ever got was Easter eggs! I'd never do that to a child! I think it's why it took him ages to start looking forward to his birthday when we first met. We all try and make it exciting for him (even now he's 50) but, I must admit, he does get an Easter egg, as well - but it's not his only present!
BM has just beeped so I'll get the dough out and give it 'what for' and turn it into rolls or something.
The weather is lovely here after that rotten weekend. We have blue sky and lots of sunshine so I should really go out before it turns. I just need to go to the bank and do a bit of shopping, then I'll go to the gym and then, I need to type up DH's business accounts - having made him go through them again yesterday because I kept finding bits of paper with no customer name on them. Apart from when I am navigating when we drive abroad - at which I am useless, he knows it, yet still insists that I do it - the only other time we argue is when we are going through his books, and that is mainly because he is so forgetful, so I shall be glad to get this lot done.
Anyway, going to switch you all off (sorry!) and go out; will call in later.

DD is off today with an ear infection, she had me up at 2 this morning, which is not like her at all, managed to get a DR appointment for 10.30 this morning which is a miracle, normally have to wait 2 weeks  .
Got another of those turkey crowns for dinner tonght, so will do a roast, all xmas pressies wrapped and cards done, so will probably spend the afternoon watching the 3rd pirates of the caribean film with dd, she is as white as a sheet bless her. Not got our tree up yet will probably put it up weekend of 15th, I don't like it up too early.
