Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber are the basics here. Sliced hard-boiled egg on top and a sprinkling of cress to make it look nicer. Can also add a few tiny slivers of onion to subtly perk up the flavour.

MUST be served with Heinz Salad Cream ;) .
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Our favourite salad is Jay's chunky yummy salad
    what you do is:

    1. Go to fruit veg supplier
    2. Choose whatever looks good
    eg
    apple
    cucumber
    courgette
    tomato
    avocado
    celery
    peppers
    etc
    3. peel, deseed as necessary
    4. Chop into chunky pieces
    5. Dress with dressing of choice (I like creme fraiche)
    6. EAT
    :)

You would think that there should be a basic stable OS salad as it is so common in so many OS meals.

Does anyone have any idea how to make the nice lentil salads and chickpea salads you can buy for exorbitant sums in the supermarket

This puy lentil one is very nice:

You can make it with or without the ham and they have some more lentil salad recipes on the site.

This is one of my major indulgencies (sp!) More a mini meal in itself than a side salad though.

    Buffalo mozzarella (from www.natoora.co.uk)
    Mortadella
    artichoke hearts
    sunblush tomatoes
    basil leaves or rocket
    olive oil
    balsamic vinegar
    maldon salt
    black pepper

    I also love:
    carrot and peanut salad
cous cous with apple cinnamon and raisin
palm heart salad (with mango, avocado, cucumber and chilli)
    paprika egg salad
green bean tapa is also yummy (green beans simmered in garlicky, buttery stock and onions)
Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j

So long as it has "Pizza Express" low fat dressing on it, I'm happy.

    Try it, its D_I_V_I_N_E

Don't try it, its £1.99 for a small bottle & £3.99 for a large one & YOU WILL BE ADDICTED LIKE ME :-)

new potatoes, onion chopped, boiled egg chopped, mayonnaise to bind. No messing, no chives no nothing else. My Mum's potato salad is famous every barbecue I go to I have to make it for people by the bucket load.
