  • Does anyone know how the Santander underwriting process works?
  • I got a call from my advisor this morning to confirm our mortgage has been approved and an offer will be sent out :)
We are FTB using the Equity Loan on a new build.
15/09 - full application by broker
21/09 - confirmation it was with underwriters and valuation booked
    25/09 - valuation completed
29/09 - asked for August payslip
06/10 - broker chased for an update (advised 3-7 days)
09/10 - broker received an email confirming all approved

I hope everyone else gets good news soon.

    Fab news!
I applied on the 16th, valuation feedback was submitted on the 28th, haven’t been asked for any further documentation, not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, fingers crossed I get a response next week

I'm hopeful it will be next week for us, too - we applied on the 10th September, application went to underwriters on the 15th, valuation on the 18th. No questions yet, but I hope we'll be at the front of the queue with the underwriters on Monday! Expect they will ask for loads of extra stuff though! Fingers crossed.

We didn't get asked any questions at all, so you might get lucky. We were only asked for a more up to date payslip as when we first submitted our docs to the broker I hadn't received my August payslip yet.

    And good luck!!

Good luck! I hope you hear soon, we didn't get asked any questions or for anything else, I feel like if they needed any other documentation you will likely have been asked already, so hopefully, it's just a case of a decision.

If you applied with a broker maybe ask them to call and chase it as that seemed to speed up our case.
  • An update my end too today. After 7 weeks and 4 days, we have broker confirmation that it’s passed underwriting, passed valuation and is going to offer. I’ve never been more relieved!!!!

  • 10th Sep AIP
10th Submitted full application and all documents
11th requested details of my furlough and if been effected (they already had this)
12th requested salary details (they already had this)
14th desktop valuation done (only found that out today, 7th Oct - no feedback, you can imagine my annoyance with the mortgage broker for not checking this)
21st requested a letter to say I wouldn’t be made redundant in the foreseeable future (a strange request)
22nd was told not possible for this document as employer only gives generic references
1st October requested a letter to say I wasn’t working a notice period of redundancy & was told if I can’t get this document the mortgage wouldn’t be approved.
    6th October submitted the above
7th informed I should hear at the end of next week as in underwriters queue

    update...
8th they asked us why my partner commutes to Manchester for work - he doesn't it's just where his head office is
today - montage offer issues . working day 21.

Very happy. It's been very frustrating. Fingers crossed everyone else hears soon.
