Santander mortgage timeline

Rasberrycreamcake said:I've been following this thread, but not been posting as I thought our application would take forever (I'm self-employed, husband is not British and also we have foreign currency income).
Our timeline:
19/04 - DIP
28/04 - Appointment with broker and all documents sent to broker followed by 2 weeks of questions from our broker and them going back and forth with Santander and also "extra checks because your husband is American"
12/05 - Finally full application submitted to Santander - confirmation email from Santander of receiving our application
19/05 - Questions from Santander about a bounced direct debit on my bank statements and about whether my husband is going to be required to travel for his job (and have to cover expenses) as it's mentioned in the contract
20/05 - Valuation done
01/06 - Call from broker to say Santander are going to offer and confirmation email from Santander saying "We're pleased to confirm we've issued your mortgage offer" - yay!
14 working days from application to offer
How long have others had to wait between the confirmation email and receiving the actual offer?0 -

Congratulations on your getting the confirmation. I cant answer your question but i'm in a similar situation to you in that our mortgage application was submitted on the 12th.
Broker came back last week on Friday to say that the mortgage was agreed, is at the mortgage centre and to expect an offer soon. We did not receive the confirmation email though
Please keep us updated of when you do receive the actual offer.
Bloody nerve racking.0 -
Omg going into our 5th week of this nightmare, holding up a chain of 5, I’m not sure how on Earth an apparently “reputable” business can run like this it’s an actual joke! The questions being asked are ridiculous, it’s 2 questions then a 5 day wait on repeat!!! We were supposed to be moving in 3 weeks, everyone in our chain is waiting on this mortgage offer! I’m so stressed! Sorry for the rant lol I feel this is a place people will understand 😂0

In fact, I've reached a point where I am ready to withdraw the application if they ask anymore questions.

We had a DIP on 5th May
Applied for mortgage in full 6th May
Valuation on 14th May
and then from then onwards we heard nothing!
Today we found out that our case got passed to underwriters on the 22nd so mortgage broker says not long to go until an answer but when I looked on the Santander service times it says they are working on cases from 21st (3 days) so without sounding completely stupid does this mean that our case isn’t actually with the underwriters yet? and it will be when the service page says 22nd?Many thanks for any help 😁 we are both self employed so I understand this is a complicated process but we are holding up a chain of 5!!!!
It is with the Underwriters but they are not looking at it yet, they will be looking at it when the date changes to the 22nd, at the moment they are looking at cases submitted on the 21st.
Be prepared for abit of back and forth. My Husband is self employed and so far we have been sent to the underwriters 4 times. The 3 times previously they asked silly questions and every time they have asked questions its added at least a week onto the wait as you have to wait for them to check the paperwork then submit it over again.
Our last questions were answered on 12th May but we somehow got lost in the system so it only officially went back to the underwriters Monday, driving us crazy now!
Good Luck
You will have to wait for them to check the documents again and then pass them back to the underwriters again, every time weve been asked a question it takes about a week, especially with the bank holiday nearly here aswell.
Its very stressful, i can see why people say moving is one of the most stressful things, however i don't remember being this stressed last time! Ive heard they are so fussy with self employed, My Husband got asked the most random of questions. I literally have everything crossed we don't get asked anything else! If we do i think il start an application with someone else.
The estate agents must realise what its like at the moment, as you said its in Santander's hands and you cannot make it go any quicker! Hopefully the questions they asked will be the last of it.
So we've just had good news! We've just been told from our Mortgage Advisor that the underwriters have approved our mortgage and that it has now been sent to mortgage centre for the offer to be issued! He's said this will take a couple of days and he will check it once received and get back to me, however i feel like we can breath abit now! I got excited and replied saying i will celebrate now and he replied saying id waiting until offer is in but im sure will all be fine, which still leaves a little doubt in my mind but fingers crossed the bulk is done for us now!
I have my fingers crossed you wont have to wait too much longer, ours have been 5 weeks 1 day to this point.
Sorry, i just wanted to ask if you have had your full offer sent to you yet? An email confirmation either? We were told on Friday the 28th that our application had been agreed and passed on to the mortgage centre by our mortgage broker. Still no sign of it.
Hoping you have heard back and had your full offer sent to you.0 -

No Unfortunately not heard anything!
I was going to wait until tomorrow morning and chase my broker because i thought id give them the benefit of doubt with the bank holiday weekend being in the middle.
Were still waiting on the solicitors/surveys so have relaxed abit now but hopefully it will be this week.
I will keep you posted!

We're almost 4 weeks into our application and have not received our offer yet.
Have you had any updates on your application? Have you applied through a broker?0 -
