Santander mortgage timeline

  • We heard back from our broker yesterday that it’s now been sent to the underwriter - where does this usually come in the process, underwriter then valuation? It’s been a long time since we moved 😂
Have you not been advised when your valuation is booked for? When did you apply? The two kind of run parallel to each other - you could be offered the mortgage pending valuation. Our valuation was instructed the day after application (20/04) and it was carried out on Wednesday (5/5). It’s back with the underwriters now as they had some things they wanted clarifying on my payslip - my employer calls holidays PTO (paid time off) which confused them a bit.
Our broker hasn’t told us much - he is doing it for no charge as a hes a friend of a friend - and it’s been a disaster I really wish I’d just done myself!! We literally had a message Friday to say it had gone to the underwriters and now he’s off for the weekend so can’t ask about the valuation. More waiting!
I feel your pain! I’m so jealous of everyone on here who went direct through Santander with their weekend updates 😂
  • Evening everyone.  Too add our Santander timeline -

    26/04/21 - Application fully submitted
27/04/21 - Val instructed and about 20 mins after we received an update telling us that they had received it (I work for a broker so receive all updates too)
28/04/21 - App went into underwriting
30/04/21 - UW'er asked a question regarding husbands work address as head office is based 300 miles away
05/05/21 - App back into underwriting
    06/05/21 - Agreed
07/05/21- Passed to Mortgage Centre and Offered :D

I have our intermediary copy but we will receive our copy through the post in the next few days.  I'm beyond excited!!!

I will ask solicitors to order searches on Monday, taking about 4-6 weeks for them all to come back but our vendor is using the same firm of solicitors as us so hoping that waiting for enquiries to be resolved won't be as painful as they can be.

    When did u apply
Quite a while ago now ... the broker submitted it around 16th April I think and then we had to wait for my payslip which was a week later - submitted supporting documents last Wednesday (28th)

Just had a text to confirm mortgage fully approved following completion of valuation. They say they've sent the offer details direct to our solicitor and a copy will follow for us, so I have to assume this means for the full original amount but will confirm once the paperwork is here (Doesn't appear to be downloadable from their online portal right this minute).

That was roughly a week from full application to full approval w/ minimal documentation required - Overall really pleased with how it went for us, hope others will hear today too especially those that have been waiting much longer than us....hang in there!
Congrats. We've applied on 2nd March and are still waiting.
Any further @peacetrustlove? You haven’t posted in a while, hoping you got sorted!

You should of had the valuation by now unless they doing a full valuation and it’s booked in but your broker should be keeping you updated about it

Hello, quick question. Our mortgage was approved a while ago and all paperwork received by us and our solicitor. A mortgage advisor sorted our mortgage for us. Should we/will we be able to ‘log in’ to Santander online to view the mortgage when it starts? Thanks

You will be contacted by Santander within 3 weeks of completion and all of the online logins will be made available to you as you account will then be live.  If you have any other accounts bank/ISA for example, your mortgage should show up on the app alongside these after completion.

The next time your mortgage adviser will be contacted from Santander will be once they have received the certificate of Title from you solicitor with the date for completion.  Then again when funds have been released and once completion has taken place; this can be a couple of days before the actual agreed date for completion - some solicitors like the funds to arrive the day before.

I’m having to apply for a mortgage again. I got accepted but our deposit isn’t classed as a gift as it may need to be paid back in the future which is very very unlikely. My partner dad is now on the mortgage so hoping to get a mortgage approval again.

Thank you. I’ll be well annoyed if it gets declined especially after being accepted on our own.
