You can identify it though as it only bills upto the date of the actual switch away.
From reading this thread, it seems NR normally produce their final bill on the same date of the month as you would normally expect a bill, even if you leave before then.
The exception is if you leave just before that that date, in which case it may be the following month as they need to get your final meter reading from your new supplier.
- in that exceptional case you will miss a bill for a month.
So it is surprising that you did not get your final bill within 6 weeks which is allowed. Having said that, if it was longer than 6 weeks, then the supplier should automatically pay you £30 compo. You should not need to request it. If they fail to automatically pay it within 10 working days, you would be entitled to a further £30 compo.

At least that is when this feedback thread was started.IIRC they started selling electricity October 2019. I was supplied from February 2020. Basically they did exactly what they said on the tin, very cheap electricity but no phone support, online only. They always replied promptly to emails and they never increased the price of the Aqua One variable tariff until it was finally withdrawn a few weeks ago, even though it had not been available to new customers since October 2020. They never increased my DD, although I did make top up payments to match my increased usage. The chat facility is available right now, although perhaps it's only available during office hours, which is also the case with many other suppliers. However, they also provide an online contact form, an online complaints form, email addresses and a postal address. The only hiccup was that they failed to refund my credit balance within the allowed period, but they sent a handwritten cheque when prompted and didn't quibble about the £30 compo. Therefore I'm quite happy to give Neon Reef the benefit of the doubt: they had kept a very low tariff for a very long time when wholesale energy prices were rocketing, and no doubt they were totally snowed under when their tariffs finally had to rise. Other companies such as Avro (once very good indeed) have recently fared far worse.I'm now with the dreaded Symbio (so far so good) but when my mega-cheap deal runs out in a year's time (or ends in tears) I'd certainly consider rejoining Neon Reef if they were competitive again.2 -

If I had read just the first page of this thread, I would have seen there was another user, @Mouldymeat3 , who had also said they originally joined them as early as February 2020.
I've now done some more searching, and the first time I can see Neon Reef advertising they were accepting new customers was Decemeber 2019. That is on their facebook page that was originally established June 2019. I cannot see any reference anywhere to any earlier date.
The first time I can find them ever mentioned on MSE forums was January 2020. e.g. you posted late Jan 2020 you were switching to them.
I remember it was a very soft launch, only appearing on a select few comparison sites at first. e.g. I remember you were often moaning well ofter this thread was started that they were not being shown on the MSM/MSE comparison sites. (but they do appear now)

Joined NR in February and have recently had my meter details appear in my account. Six months and seven DDs and still no bill/statement. I can now input meter readings in the correct way into my account and not via E-mail. DDs have been collected on time and have remained the same figure. Have used the Chat function a few times and within a couple of minutes have got through to NR. As other posts, excuses are made but action is a very slow process.0

Just to say thank you to Neon Reef for refunding my £7.12 credit balance plus my £30 compo.

No wonder they can't make any money.

So are neon reef any good these days? Looking at they want you to pay 33% more sep to March, then 33% less in the summer. How are people finding that working?0
