Handwritten cheque arrived yesterday, so I'm a happy bunny and would use Neon Reef again.Gerry1 said:My only gripe is that the refund wasn't sent within 10 working days of the final bill. They've agreed to send the refund plus £30 compo by cheque, and if that happens then I'll be quite content.1 -
Neon Reef are cheap (good). But they bump your Direct Debit up steeply after a couple of months. When you change suppliers they don't refund you for at lest three months. Live chat non existent, no phone number, very slow if any email response.

I suspect that if you were to examine their accounts you would find a company not in the best of health and having to use the measures that you have described in order to survive. Someone may be able to confirm this (or not)Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
Bit hard to get up to date picture as latest filed accounts are only to 30 June 2020 and are micro company accounts so very little detail. But per those accounts it would appear they made a net loss of £59k in the year to June 20 (increase in negative reserves up from £(14)k to £(73)k ). But not unusual for a small energy company in first couple of years of operating.Telegraph_Sam said:I suspect that if you were to examine their accounts you would find a company not in the best of health and having to use the measures that you have described in order to survive. That must be the risk that you take if going with a micro co in its early years. £(59K) increment must amount to quite a chunk compared with Brit Gas & co where such a blip would hardly merit a mention in the Notes. I believe that there is a safety net for those affected if the worst came to the worst?Telegraph Sam

I have always had a quick reply of NR and even had a phone call of them but after about 4 months with them my meter as still not been verified ,They keep saying they will get onto them but nothing happens so i have to send a email with my readings every month and ask them to sort it.They have never tried to up my DD though and at the price i am paying i am pretty happy.

DD has finally shown on Neon Reef site today , 11 days after it was shown as taken from current account. As a result ,my last statement shows that I'm in deficit but no communications (yet!) about increasing my DD!0

Just had online chat to get the £30 compensation for late final bill, which didn't say it was my final bill either!0

Welcome to MSE, but the majority of the contents of your post seem to be completely at odds with the majority of posts already made on this site by other forum members. (not least the post immediatey preceeding yours)2210bf said:Neon Reef are cheap (good). But they bump your Direct Debit up steeply after a couple of months. Most people only experienced a request for a higher DD, after being advised of a change to the variable tariff they were on - a tariff that despite being variable, was held during a period of significant general price increase for about 12 months for customers that had already secured it.
It is true they do not offer phone support - they are clear they are an online supplier only. But they do offer online chat during certain hours. They are an offshoot of Utility Point. Go to Utility Point and pay their higher prices if you also want phone support.

I dont think Neon Reef started trading proper (i.e. selling electricity) until July 2020.Shedman said:

At least that is when this feedback thread was started.
