    Hanert, so sorry you've been ill.  Just concentrate on getting better, battles with the weight can.......um......wait.

    Brambling, I'm with you on ingrained habits.  I blame the war!  Being born before it began I was brought up in a time when eating every morsel of food you were lucky to get, was considered part of the war effort.  Wasting it was the eighth of the seven deadly sins.

    blue, I love you.  Unfortunately I would rather write eloquently about disagreeable things like weight, and the unlovely state of my disorganised house, than to actually shift my lazy torso and do something about them.
    Still, I'll suck up the generous compliment and glow for a while.

    Monna - I was born to older parents who were married in 1940 and had my two eldest sisters during the war so for us it was their memory of rationing combined with being poor (at least country poor meant a large garden).  So like you when i was growing up it was considered a sin to waste any food.  My mum lived to 92 and still cleared her plate any LOs were put between two plates in the fridge and often fried the next day (we won't talk about her love of the frying pan and her pace maker  :s )
