Sn1987a this is the article about maintenence where I read the 20% thing, it's got other good tips too...
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.livescience.com/amp/53863-best-way-keep-weight-off.html
And i assume the best way to calculate would be to use a basal metabolic rate calculator like this one and adjust it for your activity levels then subtract the 20%?
https://www.calculator.net/bmr-calculator.html?ctype=standard&cage=25&csex=m&cheightfeet=5&cheightinch=10&cpound=160&cheightmeter=180&ckg=60&cmop=0&coutunit=c&cformula=m&cfatpct=20
I'm no expert but I've been trying to read up on best ways to maintain partly because I dont want to diet again and partly because breast cancer is obesity linked and i dont want an avoidable recurrence.

Hello x
thank you Brambling for amending the chart, also thanks for the birthday wishes x
Well I tried my hardest yesterday and had a vegetarian pizza. I had two medium slices and have frozen the rest. I also had a slither of birthday cake 😇
I am back on the straight and narrow this morning which Im very glad about as my bowel condition is protesting and woke me at 1.30 am this morning. I must admit to being a lot more hungry than usual? Do you find this? Is it in my mind or am i physically hungry? I have take sick day steroids so that may be contributing.
Well done to Dumpling and Tighteningthebelt for reaching targets 🙌🙌
I will WI on Saturday to give myself a fighting chance - Im also going to start cycling again x
Hope you all have a good day xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.10 -

Hi Just dropping in to say hi, and ttb very interesting articles about keeping weight off.
20% made me a bit pessimistic! But it does sort of explain the thing that people who just stay the same weight don't necessarily understand! Not looking for excuses just saying.
Hoping everybody is keeping up the good spirit!Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

I lost 10.58 oz (or 300g) which isn't much but then again it was a fatty week - fish and chips on Friday, spinach stuffed pancakes with cheese sauce on Saturday (the water in the spinach is replaced with cream!!) and a birthday cake for my partner’s mum yesterday (stack of pancakes with layers of apple sauce and cream). I know, I know, but she was over here for her 75th birthday and she’s back off to Dunedin today, so hopefully the week ahead will make it easier to stay off the calorific treats.

Hello everyone,
I would like to jump aboard for the last 7wks of this weight loss challenge please :-) ..... Could you please pop me down for a 14lb Goal :-)
I am still my same weight as usual. I try every diet.... regularly lol... but my weight never budges.... I need to just stick to calorie counting for the rest of the year to be honest as it fits in with money saving too. I would love love love to be 15stone for christmas .... so starting here and now.
I will weight every Monday (hiding scales through the week as that is another habit I'd like to rid myself of)
I will use Nutracheck to count calories
I will exercise (when its not so bloody hot)
Thanks guys , look forward to joining in :-)9 -
Welcome Debbie! I too need to calorie count as it's most effective for me. It can be a real pain though with eating home cooked meals 😂
Reporting a STS on Friday. I did try to post but lost a long one with internet issues. It's been my birthday weekend, so we had a meal out and a few treats so it's back to it today. I need to look at the meal plan again and add in lots of green vegetables. X9 -
Good morning x
Well done losers and STS 'ers. Congratulations Dumpling on reaching your target 🎉
2lb off for me please Brambling, thank you xx
I'm going out to lunch today and I'm really looking forward to it as it's my first real trip out since March other than food shopping or going to work. I will be good thoughHope everyone has a great week xx

Hi I'm checking in with a one lb lost for ever and ever. Admittedly that is me checkin in on a good day, but because this particular lb brought me to the place where I have lost half of my target weight(the first (almost) stone and I am ecstatic and the only place I can thank for continuing and persisting is this forum so a great big skinny thank you to everybody and @Brambling for running this thread.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%
