Late in for me as been at work all day. Went in thinking I was working my last ever kids group from 9-12, but lo and behold we get a phone call from the person due to teach this afternoon that she had sore eyes and was panicking, so I ended up staying and starting her group with her. I then took one little girl out who wasn't feeling well, which actually turned out for the best as the other teacher realised she was doing just fine, so I left her to it. Shopping done on the way home.
Dizzy, your comment about glitter made me laugh, we did let the kids have the glitter out today, first time since Christmas and boy do I regret it. Spent ages mopping the floors but it's still all round the building, not just the class where we used it. If ever you need to explain how a virus spreads use glitter!
Bed made, clothes picked up
DW unloaded, kitchen tidy

Today's flying ended up being clearing up after a surprise visit from my grandbaby!! 😍😍 I'd forgotten how much chaos he can produce in such a short space of time and as he's not been here since lockdown, he needed to inspect pretty much every toy, room, cupboard content etc to make sure it was all present and correct!! 😂
Once he had left, I cleaned his room, hoovered throughout, cleaned the bathroom and washed all the floors - exhausted now but it was worth every second! 😊🙌7 -
Evening ladies,
I haven't stopped today. Paid stuff has been bonkers, I only managed a v quick dog walk and even on that I was either talking on my phone or checking emails. DW has just finished, that will be first job tomorrow. Washing over airer, co-op and bakery visited, school runs done, loads of work done, kitchen re-set several times, some paperwork done, lots of texts sent... I definitely need a phone free day this weekend. On the plus side I have eaten a big frog - my car is going into the garage tomorrow. I think it will be condemned 🤦🏼♀️ - 165,000 miles, loads of warning lights - I could be wrong but if it is I need to seriously work out my plan to cycle to work in September. It's only 4.5 miles but up a Veeerrrryyyy big hill. We'll see. I've also done a bit more drain research and that is becoming less scary in my brain... again, we'll see. I can only do so much frog eating at a time.Sleep well ladies xx7 -
Good evening all,
Very little flying to report after a busy day at paid stuff, and an evening of ticking off the dailies. One small piece of sewing/mending done instead of the ironing, which quite frankly can stay shut in the utility room where I can’t see it.DH is going around the house whistling atm. I think knowing that his job is actually going, rather than wondering if it will, is having a bizarrely positive effect on him... I don’t want him too happy to be at home - I need my home-alone time to fly and keep up with the thread!
Kaz, sorry I can’t offer up any nuggets of wisdom about tile buying - our bathroom ones came from a local shop, which we found to be more helpful and cheaper than the big boys. Hope the meter is sorted out for the time being.8 -
Thanks for the good wishes about my finger. Feeling more human now.
Managed to make the house look okay and did some gardening which was nice. The glitter comments made me laugh, DD (21) used a glitter bath bomb and didn't rinse the bath straight away. I found it tonight...glitter stuck fast all over the bath. She did help to clean it and has been put off glitter for life!8 -
kazwookie said:meter readings, electric no as the display doesn't work, no matter what button you press, gas yes and took photos! So far £35 put on meter, we have used 6 units, daily charge for a month is approx £10.50, plus about £2 for gas used, does not make £35...............................
Hi, Kaz, I don't know if this still applies because I haven't worked in the industry for 12 years but... If a house had been empty for a while as someone had moved out OR it was the summer and folks hadn't used much gas, a prepayment meter would still be looking for a weekly payment for standing charge. So when the card was next charged and put in the meter, there wouldn't be any gas available because the meter's applied the payment to the standing charge first. Like I said, though, that was 12 years ago so things might have improved.
I'll leave some clean mugs for tomorrow morning's tea and sticks for the black dogs, by the kitchen door...‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Today, in no particular order:
- picked up curtains from dry cleaner
- did several things from the 'garden list' and a whole load of weeding
- took friend's dog for a walk
- rang to console my mum who, after apparently a nice overnight visit from DB and SIL, has currently no land line or broadband and feeling rather bereft with only a non-smart mobile.
- unpacked new storage unit, very pleased, but spent some time rearranging other bedroom furniture to get it looking nice. Still shuffling.
- put breadmaker on. Still using the live yeast given by a friend 3 weeks ago!
- picked a load of raspberries and gooseberries.
- wudupa
- impressed neighbour by giving her a cucumber; I have 7 ready to harvest at the same time.
- checked various free theatre/opera/dance shows for the forthcoming week.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Morning all, just enjoying my coffee in bed whilst OH is snoring his head off and the kitten is asleep on my feet
Didn’t even look at the (genuinely small amount of) ironing yesterday, will do it when I get in this evening. I opted for a long soak in the tub and some pampering time instead7 -
Morning all. WAC member here. I woke up at 03:45, since when I've drunk two cuppas, caught up with news and threads, and done a little bit of paperwork. I was planning to water the garden early this morning, but not this early! - and anyway, it has just rained for 5 minutes, so I'm not going out just yet!
Yesterday was mostly a washout with migraine, but by the evening I had recovered sufficiently to go to a church council meeting via Zoom, at which some uncertainties were clarified - but with the result that much of the voluntary work that I was doing before lockdown is not going to be possible. I am both sad and relieved : as Fayolle said, wondering what might happen can be worse than actually knowing. I now need to have a conversation with our vicar about what my future role might be, and get input from other people too.
However, the plan for today is to
- FUPA washing
- water the pots
- clean through downstairs (shouldn't take long, as everything is tidy)
- make 3 phonecalls
- pick blackcurrants and gooseberries (just one bush of each!)
- get rid of some of the weeds in the back borders
- plant out some seedlings
- cook our main meal at lunchtime
- take Rosie for her walk early
- be ready for DS1 to come and dismantle more of the bathroomwhen he finishes work sometime after 3.30
...but first I need another cup of tea and a marmalade sandwich to see me through until DH makes breakfast.
Glad to hear that your finger is healing, Mudbath.
Good work on the meter, Kazw.
Hope your mum gets her broadband back soon, Narc0. Technology is great, but only when it works!
Fingers crossed for you and your car, asb xx
Hope everyone has a good day. (((Hugs))) spoons and sticks all round, as needed xxx8
