NST July 2020: The Turtles go Jousting

I am just going stir crazy @Toni'sfriend not being able to plan anything, Friday is the official end of term, but term ended 12 weeks ago really. No idea when the lockdown will end over here, no idea if it will be extended after the 18th. No idea how it can be lockdown when you are allowed to drive into and out of the lockdown zone for work.No idea what date the schools are reopening ! So can't plan for this month, can't plan for next month in case the school goes back early, and Hatt Mancock has said if you don't send your kids in you will be fined immediately, so can't plan for the end of next month either. The only thing I have been able to control has been what we eat. So my dh is now at a healthy weight, DS4 has lost his little bellyand is a healthy weight , I am still losing weight. But I have nothing 'planned' to look forward to, and that is driving me insane. My wall calendar is totally empty. So I am going to step up the exercise (from practically zero) and fix up a bike for DS4 so that I can go out with the 2 smallest, and drag them around the canal network and local nature reserve. So of course it has rained every day since I decided this
.
I put on my raincoat, and made it rain, it seems.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Evening everyone, had a busy day at work which i much prefer as makes the time go quicker
Been raining since mid afternoon but i did get a bit of washing dry first.
Like some other turtles, i'm trying to eat better and exercise more. My bike is still at the menders but i have been doing exercise classes via Fb. Have been out for walks too.
Gratitudes: DDs happy, exercise teacher who keeps classes varied and interesting, that i don't have to home school, hot water bottles !!

Ditty - that is great news. Well done!Today I am grateful for dd having a good day, for a fun live session with a class, for being able to do workouts, for reading material, for dh being offered an eye hosp appt much sooner than we expected, for getting several work tasks crossed off my list, for lots of f+v for tea.

Yesterday was a bit of a nothing day. I got hungry the night before and ate much later than I should. Did not feel like eating when I woke up, even though I always try to eat something with my morning pills. My meal timing was off all day and I spent time alternately feeling bloated or needing to be close to the bathroom all the way through till evening.
Concentrating on the positive, some washing got done, parts of the bathroom were cleaned to within an inch of their lives (base of shower but also difficult bits including the shower trap, the rubbery bit off the bottom of the fold back part of the shower screen and the bit of floor/ shower base between the sink and the shower) and a food delivery arrived and was dealt with (mostly in the shed).
I am grateful for lots of reading. getting a bit done outside before I was forced into a tactical retreat and the improvements to the bathroom - mum had decided the shower mats didn't need doing last time I wanted to do them and they were filthy (some of the mud I keep washing off me is being trapped between the little sucker pads).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage3 -
Well done Ditty hopefully it will happen quickly for you.Ditty I have been useless during last few months, my weight has shot up to 14 Stone as I seem to have needed cake most days. I am walking more, with living on a hill, they are hard walks. Even put myself on Strava as my bosses are fitness freaks so they can nag me each day if I haven't done enough. Trying now to reduce the eating/ snacking in the evenings plus if I do a long walk after work don't have that much time to be a couch potato and nibble. Feel sad that my friends seem to not on the scene lately, now we have lifted 5 mile rule hopefully can see them in a few weeks time when pubs/ resturants open fully here. Life not the same, haven't seen grandkids as much as normal either. Booking a few days off next week, taking gs out for a few day trips as it's his birthday week and I have no idea what he wants, neither does he.( 9yr old)Need to pop to lidlees today for few basics, so spendy day.Going to drive and walk today, exhausted all footpath walks from home.Grateful forPlanning granted for works new development, if they don't decide to sell the land with planning now, I might still have a job. Hi All, thanks for good wishes yes it's a big thing, but I mainly find it an annoying thing. I have spent al morning fretting as I want to get application in, except if I do that I will literally have £100 for the rest of the month, and were supposed to go on a mini break on the 20th. So I was trying to apply for a care job, but I'm worried I will just end up wasting their time and mine, at the same time I need some extra income till November when I will get paid for my extra college teaching hours. I'm about £3-400 short every month, exactly wha tI have saved up lately for my citizenship.
I am so desperate to get a full time role, but I'm now stuck at college at least til Christmas such long notice in teaching.
Sorry to trouble you all withthis, its the same problem every summer for the last 10 years, and I'm still just not OK with it and have not been able to make the right decisions.
Still grateful for having choices though and for lovely colleagues, students and mainly for not having to go into work. But this is supposed to be my summer holls, here I am marking, doing online training and having planning meeting.
@Calling14 I meant to say not to worry about your weight, just be kind to yourself and maybe try to substitute some of the cake! When the time is right you will find a way! I do the old style weight loss on this forum and just weigh in once a week, and slowly I'm maintaining and dropping weight. But it took me a year to actually dare even stepping on the scales. Now I track it along my debts, and my meagre savings, colour coded and all - its madly motivating, but I am not one to loose weight slowly, and as things open up it will be easier and there will be more stuff to do!

Well done. Ditty.
F0xh0les - I think you've hit the nail on the head. I hate not being able to plan, having nothing to look forward to. At this time of year I would normally be planning a January holiday. Going to the places I always wanted to now that we've retired and saved the money for. Can't do it. In fact we've written off going abroad next year. I can't even be sure that we'll get our UK holidays this year. I know that's very selfish when so many other people are being so badly affected by this but I'm sure that the "not having anything to look forward to" situation must be something that is causing a lot of people to feel down.
Calling - You're not the only one whose weight has shot up. Two of my neighbours were saying today that they can't fit into their clothes. I look an absolute fright. Hair needs done, skin is blotchy, nails are brittle and breaking and most of my clothes are too small as well. Exercise and healthy eating are the clue, I suspect. It's finding the motivation that's the problem. Perhaps I need to stop avoiding mirrors.
On the plus side got a few things done today that I've been putting off. Lots more to do though.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6 -
@Toni'sfriend - it sounds like you need to book yourself into your own weekend pamper spa at home. You sound stressed out with worrying about Himself, and you have had a rotten run of luck on the family health front.Besides, toweling robes fit everyone, so do a bit of self care over the weekend. Just for yourself.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
