Glad to hear you’re doing ok, the garden sounds lovely! There’s something so cheerful about daffodils
My Grandma always used to say there’s a season in life for everything- right now might not be your season for focusing on money saving because you’ve got so much else on your plate, but it’ll come around again.3 -
You are doing a grand job. Take care of yourself too.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.

Thank you very much all, too tired to reply individually, but I really appreciate your kind thoughts. Too much going on to type, although I have given Babs a heads up on the chaos going on....!"...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."

Hello all!
Thanks again for your kind words, they mean a lot, and have cheered me up...
Here, there is finally light at the end of the tunnel, in that the insurer's have approved compensation for contents, as well as setting up for repairs to the relative's home. Phew! I can't tell you the relief I and the family feel. It feels like a huge weight has been lifted.
These past weeks have been horrendous (memory referral relative (RWP) alternating between rage and despair at what's been destroyed, forgetting, then more info requests/lists/valuation reviews from insurer's, queue renewed rage, rinse and repeat); plus their other half developing worrying health symptoms, plus me stressing out over it all; plus memory problem relative developing chest pains/A&E visit and COPD diagnosis. It's like being on a crisis hamster wheel, dashing from one thing to the next, and I still feel worn out.
In better news, I will be getting the old banger, which will be an enormous help with the relatives. Particularly since the other relative that wasn't ill is now getting ill (possible MND? I am praying not). So at least I know I can get there fast when needed, get them to appointments, etc.
We still have to face the short term disruption of upstairs being ripped out and re-built, so I am bracing myself for RWP losing it over and over again. Again. But I can now see the end of it... Maybe the car will be a Godsend to take them out and away from it as a distraction.
In other news, I have had the first jab, so feeling a lot more relieved about being out (rather than worrying I am infecting the older relatives in our bubble).
Money saving has been on the back burner (thank goodness for the standing order), but, at least it has been quietly happening in the background. I have done nothing else, no surveys, my budget is in tatters, my waistline is the only thing that's really grown... groan.... but I WILL pick myself up. This is life, this won't last, I WILL get back on track....."...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."

That's a very uplifting update, in between the chaos of RWP and their OH. Things sound like they're moving in the right direction and hopefully in a few months it will all be done.
Having a car will make your life so much easier and is a timesaver, which you need all the spare minutes going.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear it in 2026.2 -
