Love the new title too :)
    Cheers!

Just in case it helps you I thought I might share my efforts at losing weight and getting fitter in 2020. I must get the book you mention as I think that is my natural way of tackling things that I struggle to get on top of.

So, I set a target of losing 20 kilos in a year. Did I do it? No, but I lost 9.5 kilos without dieting in a year. I am more than happy with that as I tend to underestimate the time a goal will take. Sometimes my weight stayed the same for ages weeks, then shifted with a new behaviour.

This is a lot of detail thank you, so I am adding comments:

The following are a few examples of new behaviours I introduced that shifted my weight when it had plateaued for a while:

    Daily walks

Yes! With (slow) dog now gearing up to 45 mins. Visiting poorly relative ups this to another 40 mins on top.

    A focus on nice vegetables

Yes - vegfest as I am definitely doing a variety.

Shifted all eating to between 10am and 6pm

I do this (its also in HNTD) but earlier from 6am-4pm

Fixed my bike and started cycling

Not been on it since falling off and hobbling for weeks afterwards - now exercise bike!

Switched from crisps to toasted nuts (most of the time)

Have the last of the salted nuts, then 'normal' nuts...

Only eating chocolate over 70% chocolate

Stopped buying any sweet stuff now - cannot stop eating the blasted stuff.

Buying a soup maker and upping my veg intake (a new shift in the last week and 1 kilo off)

I do make soups now, old fashioned way in a pan, but have a hand blender thing....

Diets do not work for me either. Eating this way I never felt deprived or rebellious or unhappy! On an MSE note I did not pay another organisation to assist either. I appreciate my way may not be your way but it worked for me so I thought I would share it.

I find the thought of going to set classes, and revealing my weight to anyone, a bit daunting, so haven't gone to WW or SW, just used books/DVD's....

I am sure you will find the best way for you as you are clearly knowledgeable about food. I wish you well with it :)

Not that knowledgeable, but, learning. It's the application of what I am learning which is the hurdle!

    Thank you!

OMG I'm so bad in comparison to you all. So far i am on a porridge diet. I blew it last night but am back on the wagon again today. I do need to eat more fruit and veg though. Ren this diet/eating plan of yours looks fab.
This is obviously a new one on me, or are you pulling my (big, fat) leg! :D

Well, it all looks good, it's the doing part where I need to be accountable.....

It all looks good Ren but please do not weigh yourself every day, it's honestly not a good way to monitor what's going on.
I must admit it does sound like the worse way to set me off not eating healthy i.e. if I get fatter the 'what the heck I may as well eat that chocolate/crisps/biscuits/cake/sweets/junk' mode....

I don't want to sound desperate to lose weight, but, I have looked on-line (damn you google) and seen some very bad photo's of what can happen to someone with severe diabetes.... as I haven't done it before, I am wondering if it will motivate me (or de-motivate me?) hmmmm, I think I will give it a try for a couple of weeks, and if its too awful, limit it to once a week....

Ha! I somehow missed that post Babs!  :D I raise you 3 tubs of vegan ice cream, a whole chocolate cake to myself (people over buying and insisting I take the vegan one home), 2 boxes of mince pies, and I have lost count of the chocolate bars now.... argh.... :s

Day one of the 'healthy regime'

Breakfast: porridge oats, soya milk, ground seed mix (sprinkled), mixed frozen berries & some soya yogurt. Glass of water & cup of tea.
Lunch: Vegan sausages, sweet potato wedges, side salad (no dressing) & 2 beetroot falafels. Salad covered half plate, only used spray oil to stop sausage/potatoes sticking. Glass of water.
Tea: will be hummus pot with sticks of celery, carrot, apple and pepper. Glass of water.
Snack: herb tea, small handful of tiger nuts.

I might have a G&T tonight because, lockdown..... no fizzy pop in it, just tonic...

Activity: 2 hours walking, including 35 minutes with dog. 3 x 5 mins on the (uncomfortable) exercise bike.
Money - another survey, another bit in the pot!
Friend gave me a tenner for a favour I've done, despite me saying it's too much (prior to lockdown) This is going in the dog's pot.
Put a bid on something I was tempted by, then went back and cancelled it! Saving that instead of spending.

Bought some mould resistant paint to tackle some mould stains on the ceiling (kitchen and bathroom) - cheap from L*dl at £5.99 for 2 litres. This is the start of doing something on this place so it doesn't look so shabby (there's no chic, only shabby here!)

I have a list for every room, and so far the only real thing done is the de-cluttering and donating.

Top tip: I accidentally discovered that the local council allows me to get up to 4 items, twice a year, taken away to the tip, which is great for me as I don't have a car (at the moment). This is only because I am eligible (list of benefits, etc. on their web-site).

I was going to book to pay them to take stuff away I can't donate/sell/give away. Saves around £25 I think.

Making a start is good, don't rush anything and shabby will soon be chic.

Wasn't aware of the council free collection, it may vary between them. That will help a lot.

    Food food great 🤗

Yes, on the council waste site - lucky for me I spotted it when I went on my local council's web-site, I was quite prepared to pay to have stuff taken away. It's only a small amount of things (maximum 8 items, so 2 trips allowed, 4 items each time). But because 2 things are big in size - office chair & old easel, awkward to get in a car anyway. I was closely questioned on what I would like to have taken, and what they would or wouldn't accept, or whether I had used the service before (they check), but it's a very useful thing they do that I wasn't aware of.

    Food very tasty too!
