Is it just coincidence that the Arms board (including DT) has closed just a couple of days after the Report functionality failed and they've switched to "please email your reports"? I doubt the Forum team were overwhelmed by such emails (for the Arms/DT) as it's far more of a faff to write an email than it is to click the Report button. Or maybe they were, maybe some people have too much time on their hands and spend the entire day writing emails reporting others. But I cannot help wondering whether the decision to close the Arms board is linked to the system failure.

They've fixed the reporting issue though. You can't report anything currently except by email.

The whole section was always going to close as soon as we moved to the new platform it just took the virus to speed things up a bit by giving MSE the excuse to cite the number of complaints, it's not like they even have to explain themselves anymore.

Another alternative to MSE.  A lot of useful boards as well as General Discussion:

I guess so. Take care everybody. Love to your dad, Duncan, and also to Fruitylicious.

Money Saving Arms was fine. It was Discussion Time which is the main cause of complaints,

Would be better if MSE admin  ban those posters that had the most complaints about. If people complained about - say about 100 posts and they came from 20 something posters, ban these lot.

Stop tarring us with the same brush.
The problem there is that the reporting was heavily abused. It's meant to be used for posts which violate the rules, but for political stuff it was used for posts that the reporter (and all their additional accounts) didn't agree with. That must be a moderation nightmare.

Personally, I don't think it'll be back - the Arms had nothing to do with moneysaving and people talking about random stuff doesn't make them any money. I suspect that within a week most of us will have forgotten about it and be back arguing with each other on DigitalSpy (I've signed up but don't seem to be able to post yet).

I believe  it's 48 hours before you can post as a newbie on DigitalSpy. A simple thing like that here  would, at least, help to slow down the reappearance the trolls. Where I moderate we personally approve new posters but that's impossible on a board this size

I'd have thought when the new forum was being developed and introduced they might have had a bit of a think about the joining mechanism

I also instigated the approval of membership on all of my forums, including my big one (it's sizeable- over 3 million page views a month). It can get tiresome but it takes up less time than sorting out the never ending spam or weeding out the undesirables and repairing the damage they have caused.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

My view is that there was no need for DT and the Money Saving Arms to be lumped together, I suppose we could start a thread in another part of the forum, they are hardly going to get swamped with complaints about people saying Good Morning, anyone suggest which board to use?

That's clearly to much to ask.

Now it's closed i doubt it will ever get reopened.

Why would they make extra work for themselves?

The timing of the closure and without warning cuts deeply.
