Not sure that warrants the whole forum being shut down though. Not having a place to discuss the pandemic generally - the biggest global event in decades - is a shame.
But more importantly I'm concerned for the welfare of those who used the forum for social contact. Abruptly taking away people's social ties is not something that should be taken lightly, especially now when real life social contact is so limited. Seems to me that if you're happy to allow a social community to develop on your forum and to benefit from the hits and the member numbers, then you owe it to that community to look after them; to treat them like human beings and not an inconvenience that you can just brush away when you're a bit busy.6 -

If I remember rightly, the Families section has sub-boards for 'Mums' and 'Dads' that see very little action ...

Having the ability to read discussions about the pandemic rather than just the financial information for it, got me through my sister's fight with Covid and the death of my uncle from it. It allayed fears as one of the ways I cope is to digest stats, new research, experiences etc and it gave me a window into what was happening in the outside world that I can't yet re-enter. I need the basic financial information contained in other threads but alongside that, discussion is equally important.
I rely on forums that have discussion, my world isn't that big even without a pandemic and information keeps my brain activated and involved. Politics is contentious, it's the nature of the beast, pandemics are scary, opinions on what is going on will always attract more than one voice and more than one view point but although things can get a little heated or a view may be a tad OTT at times, it is how we learn and understand the world and other humans better and maybe, just maybe, read an argument convincing enough that we change our own opinions.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.14 -
Now it's closed i doubt it will ever get reopened.
Why would they make extra work for themselves?
The timing of the closure and without warning cuts deeply.

Money Saving Arms was fine. It was Discussion Time which is the main cause of complaints,
Would be better if MSE admin ban those posters that had the most complaints about. If people complained about - say about 100 posts and they came from 20 something posters, ban these lot.
Stop tarring us with the same brush.4 -

Just look at the so called newbies the past month
See no matter how much people like to reinvent themselves and deny they were ever here before, their posting style gives them away every time7 -

If only some of the posters could behave like adults instead of 2 year olds there wouldn't be a problem...
Some people only exist as examples of what to avoid....1
