1.75 million (official figure not guesswork) have failed the SEISS 50/50 rule and get £0 help. Here are just a few examples:
1. Employees who set up businesses in the same tax year.
2. People with 2 part time jobs, one employee, one self employed.
3. People who receive a pension, including pension drawdown going back to 2016/17.
4. People who receive a bereavement allowance.
5. People who are claiming maternity or paternity allowance.
6. People who received certain inheritance payments.
As well as the 50/50 rule, there are around a dozen other categories affecting over three million tax payers.
This is NOT a case of fraud, all tax returns were already filed when the scheme was announced.
#ExcludedUK has thousands of reports from people affected who are desperate for help, in debt to feed their families and some talking suicide. As well as campaigning for change, #ExcludedUK has experts in various fields offering help and advice including mental health. Thanks to Martin Lewis and other media this last week, our story is beginning to be told and we have a hard working 15 strong admin team working on various options. We were 'born' 3 weeks ago and today we have over 9000 members and growing fast. If you are affected, please join us, add your voice and get some support. I fell short of the 50% SEISS scheme by £800 over the 3 year average, due to my pension. I have never been out of work (40 years). I have been fortunate to of never be in a position to claim any benefits in my life. Always paid all my taxes on time. This government ordered me to close my business through no fault of my own. They have let me down in my hour of need. Utter disgrace!4

Sorry. A bit late to the party. As a limited company director I've been too busy today dodging my taxes and stuffing bundles of £50 notes down the back of the sofa.
I'm extremely lucky my kids are adults now and not relying on me for money - in fact I may have to tap them up if this goes on a lot longer. Also that I have a two director business and have been able to furlough one director. Else things would have been terribly tricky. I grew up with absolutely no money so i know what it was like to only have my school lunch as a main meal and come home to no gas or electric, and I know how to live cheap! This is much more of a disaster for so many. The stories I have read, I feel like i'm one of the lucky ones. My heart goes out to everyone with difficulties.
When you feel down, switch off and come back later. You will get through this. Much love.

Help Martin, 3 million people need you. I’ve been a tax payer for 42 years and have now been shafted by this government because I changed career 16 months ago. Most governments would be crying out for the latest data, but they refuse to accept my 19/20 tax return and have awarded me zero based on my out of date 18/19 tax return.0

Just some parity with other tax payers for 3 million people who also pay their taxes.2

Became self employed beginning of April 2019 after 34 years of PAYE. Submitted my tax return for year end April 2020 to show my earnings and this doesn’t fit the criteria ! Government took my fitness instructor job away from me when they closed the gyms, but for some reason I am not entitled to 80% of my earnings like the majority of the country ! No doubt I’ll be paying for the cost of the furloughing when we come out of the pandemic through increased taxation. #unfair,unjust,kickedinthegutter.1
