Thank you for highlighting this issue.
There are so many people and categories who fall in this group. I personally fall into the annual PAYE not eligible for furlough group and the Ltd Co Director 9working from home one man band) getting zero. There are so many others also getting Zero. Rishi Sunak said he thought everyone was getting some form of extended income - how wrong he was! 3 million people on zero and I mean zero! Businesses closing, making staff redundant, families using food banks etc. People really don't realise the scale of this and a lot of it is a simple chnage of rule (move a date etc) and a lot more would be helped. We don't have a footballer calling out the government on this issue - maybe would should, as many children will suffer because of this.
Martin you are our superstar footballer - kick this issue into the goal like you do on so many other important issues! Thank you!!!!
  • Such an important issue and campaign for myself and my wife. We both miss out on any help from the Government schemes, we are a graphic designer and wedding photographer and have lost a years worth of income with no support because we are Ltd and also the 50% of overall income ruling which is ridiculous. Have paid taxes for over 20 years. Others are profiting while we get nothing.
  • The Treasury Select Committee report this week felt like official acknowledgement during this crisis that we exist. The manner in which the Government has treated so many UK taxpayers ineligible for support has felt unnecessarily cruel. Rishi Sunak seems to try to hide behind repetitive statements about the help he has given to others, without having the tact to recognise that telling us over and over about the people he has supported, surely only exacerbates the situation for everyone else who is excluded. There has to be parity for all UK taxpayers affected by the coronavirus crisis. Hopefully we are edging closer towards that point, thank you for this thread.
  • Martin, just want to thank you for your support in our campaign
  • Thank you for highlighting this issue, it is so important that the existing schemes/grants are fair to all and currently they are not.
All tax payers should be receiving help during this Global crisis.
3 million workers are currently unable to access any or very little support.

  • Thank you for highlighting this issue along with the excludedUK info. There are 9000+ people in the facebook community group - I am one of those who stupidly (in hindsight!) decided to change jobs, only to have the new job offer evaporate in a puff of covid smoke. Old employer wouldn't furlough and travel industry opportunities are now few and far between. It's now been 2+ months on basic JSA as not able to get UC. Mortgage holiday is helping but how long will this go on for? They're saying it'll be worse than the recession of the early 1980s!?
  • Thank you MSE for raising this issue.  I am one of the 3 million affected due to being both paye and SE, my SE not being more than 50% of my income for tax year 2018/2019.  I feel I have been penalised for dropping a big chunk of my paye to build and grow my business over the last year and so now only receiving a small amount of furlough. I have managed to put some of my business online but no where near what I was earning before the lockdown.  Then there is the worry of even having a business to go back to and building it again.
we are not all in it together! 😕
  • Thanks very much for your support on this pressing matter for millions of people. It's getting desperate for many families and individuals with no income or support now for three months. The TSC report and your excellent questioning on Twitter need to elicit a response from the Chancellor who has deliberately ignored this. The comments from the ignorant and misinformed regarding fraud and tax will not stop the #excludedUK from demanding parity of support with all other workers.
  • Worked as employed keyworker while also self-employed since 2014. Always paid my taxes and National Insurance.
Fully self-employed since beginning March 2020 due to many bookings for 2020/21 to pay me full time .
    'Surviving' on £375 UC and borrowing ! #ExcludedUK #parity

It's good to see the tide is finally turning for the excluded and this is now getting much more coverage in the mainstream media.
