Oops haven't posted for ages. Not spent any money since 1st June so on NSD 8. Will have to brave the supermarket at some point this week as we're running low on bread, fruit and veg. Grateful for work going ok, still being able to work, lockdown easing slightly so have been doing some socially distanced runs with a friend, coffee, video chats with family and my sister sending more pictures of my niece.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.988 -
Good Morning Turtles!Did volunteering yesterday and swooped in for a ys haul on the way home at 7pm, so my kitchen window sill is full of watery glasses with scallions, asparagus, and lettuce, and except for hayfever meds, I do not need to buy anything for about another ten days. NSD6If I lose another 2lbs then I will have lost 2 stone so far . That is my motivation as it is my birthday next week. A present to myself. Today I will clean and hoover my house from top to bottom. It is exercise, needs doing, and will make me feel happier.DH has gone for an Ultrasound on his shoulder - 7 weeks he has been in agony. Poor thing. Good job he is not a racehorse. Will sew one more cushion with my stash of velvet/een.I Tilly Tidied my bank account, and it resulted (I typed resluted - that so should be a word) in a mortgage overpayment of 58p.Every Little Helps, but I feel that really is a Very Little Help. Might have saved myself 20p interest over 16 years.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

June Challenge Day 9
Simplify Your Life
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated (Confucius)
Voluntary simplicity means going fewer places in one day, seeing less so that I can see more, doing less so that I can do more, acquiring less so that I can do more (John Kabat-Zinn)
Besides the noble art of getting things done, there is the noble art of leaving things undone. The wisdom of life consists of the elimination of non-essentials (Lin Yutang)
One of the joys of having flu (or any other debilitating illness) is that it slows life down and makes you concentrate on the essentials. If getting to the bathroom and back is a monumental undertaking and you need to think hard about what you can eat (grab and go food like yoghurts, tinned fruit - I remember once being too ill to get out of bed, let alone down stairs and having to explain to DS3 and his friend how to make a tuna butty with just tuna and vinegar filling) you whittle away at the non-essentials very quickly. I always found that in the recovery period (propped up on the sofa but still too ill to go further than the bathroom and the kitchen) I could get through an awful lot of 'boring sewing' (putting patches over holes in jogging pants for the boys, turning the no longer long enough ones into shorts for the summer).
So use this time to think about who/what you are missing. If there are people you would rather not see ever again (or only in limited doses) work out how this can be 'managed' going forward. I say managed because it might be awkward if it's everyone in your department or group at work or a 'close' relative (you can't hug a cactus). If your reaction to a cancelled meeting is one of overwhelming relief, it is a sure sign that you are doing too much. I've often found myself in this situation in voluntary groups as well as work meetings when long badly controlled meetings are allowed to meander and very little is achieved.
Most of us need to work on our sleep pattern, how we fuel our bodies, making sure we drink enough water, moving our bodies (dance, dance dance, put on some music and dance through the housework), getting enough sunlight and air (safely with more protection than the average beekeeper). WE may be social people who are missing friends or loving our solitude and half wishing we never had to 'people' again. Some of us may be using exercise as a meditation or as an escape from our problems and may be chafing under the restrictions of lockdown.
The way forward is making small positive changes, repeating good actions until they become habits and then adding another small change. Clearing the top of the bedside cabinet may not seem like much, but it's a start (especially if you can keep it that way). As someone who has to spend a lot of time working out 'how to' do things, most things are possible, even when you have limitations. I'm not going to be climbing Everest any time soon but then I never wanted to (honestly never had the slightest inclination, ditto saving enormous sums of money to take my sons to Disneyland - in fact I kept them away from Disney as much as possible, viewing it as one of my top 'evil empires' with MacD's, C0c@ c0l@, and News International (Rupert Murdoch) and Nestle (because of mis-selling baby milk in developing countries). It took me years to get used to being able to buy South African fruit and it still feels weird going into Barclays. Small changes, lots of people, do what you can people - start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.

Apologies went missing over the weekend as usual. Read all your posts yesterday and forgot to post myself. Am I really losing it.No spending over weekend. Got a takeaway coffee yesterday as left my cardy in work and beachside walk was a tad chilly.Work is dragging, usually really busy finding it hard to look busy when I am not.Love your posts Mothernerd, don't stop being political ever. Count me in for the revolution!Sleeping too well at the moment, go back to sleep after alarm goes off every morning. Chuffed I managed to get out of the shower, dry my hair, well half dry it, put make up on, eat breakfast, make sandwiches and drive to work in total time of less 40 mins.I have a so called friend I would like to see a lot less of. Trouble is lives very near to me I even avoid going straight home from work some days to avoid her. Nothing nice to say about anyone, and now she is running out of friends due to nasty comments she makes on fbook. I do make out I am so busy being back in work don't have time to meet up for chats.Watched the drama based on the Windrush scandal last night - got me fuming. Poor people hardly any of them still havent had any compensation for losing, jobs, homes and their lives. grrrrrrrrr.Spent last night, raking moss out of my lawn and cutting my grass. Front garden looks so perfect now.Brilliant weight loss Foxholes. Well done. I have ordered Mechnical scales off A zon but they are out of stock. My digital ones have broke. Not that I actually weigh myself on a regular basis.CCL sorry to hear about your expense, houses can be money traps. Keep going we will cheer you on.Would love the lockdown to lift a bit more in Wales driving within 5 miles is very restrictive. Was up really early and had finished all the chores including the Boy's ironing before Himself got out of bed, Kept him out of my way to let me get on.
The Boy came last night to borrow a TV set from my bedroom for his Dad whose had gone kaput. I don't really use it anyway. You don't really want to be without a TV set just now so I told him to keep it as long as he needs and not rush into buying something that he doesn't rally want. I'm glad that after a very acrimonious break up many years ago he now feels he can ask for help if needed. The Boy also asked me if I could add a few things to my Tesco delivery for him because he doesn't want to spend any more time than absolutely necessary in a supermarket. Fair exchange for what he 's offered to do for us and I reckon I've got most of it anyway because we bulk buy.
Just been watching a programme about the art of Bruges and Ghent. Definitely now being considered for our next trip. Really missing planning my holidays and it's helping me keep going.
My niece has challenged me to list my 7 favourite books. Got the first two and I'm now struggling to prioritise the rest. So many books.
So, fish from freezer and roasted veg for dinner. Looking forward to it.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
I retired to bed early last night with a headache. I have put it down to a little dehydration due to the kettle being broken. I've increased my liquid intake today and but I still feel poorly. I haven't physically achieved much at all but practically and mentally I have made some decisions and plotted a way forward with some issues.
Today I am grateful for the lovely feelings attributed to putting a spring in my friend's step.6 -
Today I am grateful for time with my family, for dd playing out and having a great time, for adapting my plans for the next few weeks after a shift of scheduling at work, for my workout pushing me, for drying the washing outside (still using the climbing frame to hang it on!), for finding a use for the tin of mango purée bbe oct 2018...
