Don't suppose your local passport office is in Norwich? They can sometimes issue emergency replacements I think, but not much good if you had to go to London or Peterborough to get one!

Chances are he needed the passport for some kind of ID-more and more places seem to need it for the most trivial things now days. Didn't he take on an extra job recently ? Could they have needed sight of it their for records ? Sorry just trying to do the steps retracing thing-try the glovebox of the car !!

Tried all of the above but no joy. I am resigned to the fact that I will have to drive, but I really don't want to - it is such a long way there and back, whereas OH was a long distance lorry driver so things like that don't bother him.

to make it easier, although not very DFW, I will book a travel inn or something near the tunnel for tonight so that I can set off this afternoon, and sleep there, rather than set off in the middle of the night and get no sleep.

Ho hum.......I have made a start on the essay though

I'll stand by the side of the M-way with a large mug of coffee for you as you zip by. I am SO sorry-what a nightmare ! If you want a hand ferreting out a cheap deal for the hotel pm or ring me P's got my number.
Weirdly when I read your to-do list I though "Hope they know exactly where the passports are" Wish I'd said something now

Have the Travelodge £9 rooms actually started yet? You might be able to get something there.

Don't suppose you can fob the kids off on any of their friends' parents for the trip? (The bad-mother part of me again!)

No luck with the passport, and the other children are already out there (we couldn't afford to do new year week too) so no chance of a lift.

Needless to say, things are not happy in the hypno household. I have booked a travel inn at folkestone and will head off there late afternoon, to give me time to have a good amount of sleep before a reasonably early start in the morning.

I have done a good proportion of my essay and will take it with me to do in the hotel perhaps. Clients tomorrow are cancelled, and OH will have to cover my bar shift for me, because I am not prepared to lose that income too.

Oh well, better go and find stuff for a couple of overnight bags. Oh, and put the kettle on Duchy, I will be needing that coffee!!
