Just got in from first day back at work - you all sound as you've been busy today !!!!
My list is still as it was yesterday unfortunately having had to spend so long sorting out about DS room at Uni. Anyway DH is taking him down tomorrow to see police and insurance people and then to move ALL his stuff into new accomodation.:j
Right I'm off again (I know my light is on all the time - I can;t be bothered to log in and out and I can't remember my username and password anyway_)
Am going to walk to the library - about a mile there and a mile back - got to be good for me !!!!:T :T0 -
A belated Happy Christmas and New Year to Hypno and everyone - I've had a couple of weeks off MSE  a very busy week at work, a friend's wedding 200 miles away the weekend before Christmas then my family staying over Christmas and in laws over new year meant there wasn't much time for going near the computer - have just caught up with your diary though - thank goodness work is quiet
I'm so pleased the clearance is sorted and that you are so positive about things. I've decided that 2008 is the year I'm going to get properly sorted - we need to remortgage in December and we want to have some money to overpay then and also keep out of debt (student loans and mortgage excluded) and try and build up a little nest egg really and I know this site and diaries like yours will help me keep on track.
Best continue with my catch up - sending positive vibes for the car.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
Initial Mortgage free date - January 2058
Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98
Overpayments to date - £79.62
Current Mortgage free date - January 20580 -
Hi Surfbabe......still haven't started my assignment - how is your's coming along?
YL, Happy Christmas and Happy New Year!! Welcome back!!
I have had a panic clear of the student's room - needed to do that as she suddenly announced she was at the station ready to be picked up  Still at least it got something crossed off the list!
Car is still poorly - is going back again tomorrow morning.......not looking good but I have taken the decision not to pay for it on the credit card, but to take it out of our food budget, and see how we can manage on storecupboard and a minimal budget. Without the kids being here, it will be far easier, but tight. OH is horrified, but I think we have to at least attempt to live within our budget even when these unexpected things come along. If we can't manage it, then the credit card is there for food shopping later in the month if we really do need it, but I quite fancy the challenge of trying to get through - fab feeling if we could, don't you think!!
I have done masses of ironing today too - still plenty to go, but the pile(s) look significantly smaller than they did this morning, also the lounge looks a whole lot tidier. I need to go back to my original list and see just how much I can cross off.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. I have also tidied the lounge, and hoovered through downstairs, and have done several loads of washing, and a veritable mountain of ironing!

Hiya Hypno
I can't believe it's nearly time for them to go on the skiing trip! It's come round so fast. I'll be joining you on the store cupboard challenge this month as we've already used up this weeks budget on trainers the children needed (got them in the sale), parts to fit the new cooker which was a present from my mum but is costing us a fortune, man to fit the gas part of the cooker as DH can only do electricity. On top of that we have the car going to the garage soon as it's making very strange noises when we turn corners (I can't hear it if the radio is loud but that probably isn't the best idea in the world!), I have to pay £50 for DDs piano lessons, four birthdays in January including my son's.....you get the picture. My children are already getting used to 'whatever's in the fridge lunches' - left over cheese, left over meat, left over anything! I'm determined not to spend on the credit card though.
How many days left in January?
The good news is i've had three new clients book in for next week which never usually happens in January! Good luck with your car xxJanuary budget
Nothing left!0 -
Hi Hypno - Assignment not started yet !!!! No surprises there really. I have walked to the library and changed books, updated by Books data base and helped DS sort out what he is going to take back to Swansea tomorrow when they go to meet the police etc. he may as well make use of DH's car rather than trying to take it all back by train next week.!!!
Just about to make Macaroni Cheese for tea !!0 -
I have spag bol on the go - we can eke out the contents of the freezer and cupboards, with minimal supermarket shopping I reckon - only 28 days to go :rotfl:
I really do want to give it a go - it would seem a shame to spend on the credit card when we haven't even tried to do it the DFW way, and I am so pleased to be reducing my debt I don't want to have to add to it this early on in 2008!

You said the right thing, as usual
Absolutely!!! In fact Z, I think you are our own very Gok:A
Maybe I should have got Gok's book instead of Trinny and Susannahs. I'll stick than on my birthday list (not for another 8 months, but hey, I'm not buying it). I might see if my library will order it in.0 -

Well I'd be very happy to advise you all how to look better naked. But I think it is only fair to warn you that the only mince I have is in the fridge-freezer."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
