Of course you're not allowed to complain about the Good Fairy, you just got told off by the fan club. I wonder if they would all be so happy if like us , they hadn't received their order. I, like Sarah would like this thread closed, the fan club can move over to Facebook, and leave us alone to participate in what this site is all about MONEYSAVING!!!!!!
I have to say I completely agree with density. I would also like this thread closed. I have had a thread removed in the past for linking to my blog....Why?.......because I advertise my buisiness on my blog.
So Im not directly posting a link to my shop, but the thread was removed.
It really is one rule for one and another for the rest of us.
Im sure tine, you can see the frustration here?
Density is right it is like a Fanclub.0 -
ebaybaby - technically it's not advertising... TGF has never actually (to my knowledge) posted a link to her site... If anyone feels that the thread breaches the site rules then as I have said SEVERAL times report it. It's been brought to mine and the forum teams attention and thus far it's still here... I can see your fustration but I don't think it's my place to start changing the rules really... When a thread is in doubt then I tend to refer it and ask for "higher" guidance. The thread is still here so I am guessing that it's not actually a breach of the rules. I agree it's a fine line sometimes though.
I don't personally think it's a fan club though. I see a couple of disgruntled customers, some very happy ones, a very stressed TGF and people who are annoyed because their threads where they have posted links have been removed when they themselves posted links to their websites/businesses.
In fairness thisthread isn't about complaining about havign other threads pulled - infact there is a whole forum section dedicated to discussing rules etc
I have to say that personally I think it's very sad that TGF has overstretched herself, causing her a lot of stress, and disappointing customers.
And I think the only fanclub on here is the one for Martin
Ultimately if you feel that this thread is too "pro" TGF and you have reported it - then there is nothing forcing you to re-visit it if you dislike the topic. I have several threads on the boards that I disagree with but as they don't breach the rules they will remain. I therefor simply don't read themMuch easier and less stressful.

Well tine , Im sorry you feel that way.
Ive never posted on this thread before that one post, I dont visit it regularly, I was just amazed it is still here.
Technically, no, it's not advertising, but in a roundabout way it is.
Technically, I could ask a friend to recommend something that I have sold in my shop, rave on a bit here and get tons of business. AND BEFORE YOU ALL JUMP ON ME, I AM NOT SUGGESTING FOR ONE MINUTE THAT, THAT IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED HERE.
I wont be visiting the thread again, but I will take your advice and report it.
And I have to stand by my original comment and say that it is one rule for some of us and another for others.0 -

I think density sums the situation up perfectly in her point above.
If we point out that our orders are not arriving, or we have heard nothing (despite contacting TGF), or we are told that our order has been put to the back of her queue - then according to the ardent fans of TGF (same ones every time) we are made out to feel we are the ones in the wrong for complaining.0 -
molly_mandy I don't think anyone is saying that you are in the wrong for complaining about your order being slow/late. The only issues I've had with this thread is when people have gone off topic (complaining about forum rule enforcement or whatever you want to call it on other threads) or if the number one rule is not being adhered to: Be nice to all moneysavers.
I do think that complaints should be first directed to TGF via official means, but then yes a calm message on here might help too? I don't have an issue with that. Infact one of the reasons I have not permanently closed and removed the thread is so that people can't turn around and say "oh well as soon as it didn't suit people to have the thread any more THEN they remove it huh?" because that's not what it's aboutDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! I'm not gonna jump on youInfact I'm sure as everyone has had me shove the "Be nice to ALL moneysavers" mantra down their throats the last few posts then no-one will "jump" on you.
Yes in a round about way it's advertising - same as the links to Tesco is or ebay or any other site. The primary difference is that "you" (the hypothetical you, not you ebaybaby) can't post a link to promote YOUR business. You can't stop others posting it, although I think you'd find any first time poster doing it just to post a link would be VERY sharply monitored...
This thread has been under close scrutiny for some time and if you can find a thread of similar circumstances then please do let me know(even if you have links to a deleted thread on this board - I can't access those on other BGs boards unfortunately).
But I will repeat what I said - this thread is NOT for complaining about forum rules, how they are applied and so on - there is a dedicated forum on here for that.
You have reported the thread and I am sure that if the forum team find any active breaches of the rules they will act on it, but JFYI I have asked them to monitor it already in case you thought I was merely a pretty face or just being difficult. Honestly I'm not.
And being as it's a monday I guess everyone could do with a:

I can't believe some of the comments which have actually been written on here!!!
Firstly I would like it known I am not a member of the TGF fan club!
But some people are quite unbelievable!
I have ordered (and eventually received) products from TGF and been more than pleased..Yes I did have to wait quite a while for my order but tbh I didn't care! I was ordering a HANDMADE TOTALLY UNIQUE PRODUCT which in my mind is worth waiting for.
I once ordered a cooker from a reputable dealer who advised me delivery would be 12 weeks and then on the day of delivery informed me they couldn't deliver it because it had fallen off the back of the lorry!!!! (I kid you not!) I was informed that I would have to wait another 12 weeks for another one to be made. Unfortunately some things in life are NOT instant and are definitely worth waiting for. I eventually received my cooker and have appreciated it every day since.....
Regarding the post about not receiving their candles and then proceeding to order some more but complaining about the "price hike"!!- If the service was so bad why would you bother ordering again????
I NEVER rely on anything I have ordered via the INTERNET and always have a plan B as a back up! If it arrives then it's a bonus- saves me getting stressed unnecessarily.
Incidentally, I recently placed an order but it will arrive when it's ready. I would rather it arrived late and beautiful than rushed and ruined just to meet a deadline.
T.G.F I am thankful your site was recommended on here along with all the other sites/ bargains I have been introduced to from other MSErs who felt others would benefit from knowing about them.
Regards

Hiya
On the point of it being The Good Fairy's own website, yes it is, but where we've thought she's come close to advertising we've let her know and she's apologised and said she'll stick to answering questions and since then, has done so as far as I can see.
Yes there is a fine line, between what we consider advertising and what is just providing good customer service. We welcome companies helping customers out where possible on MSE, whether they're big or small. If you believe any are borderline advertising then you just need to report them to abuse@, as with any other company, and the forum team take a look and, where they feel necessarily, remove posting priviliges.
The Good Fairy did ask for the thread to be closed but we've left it as it's good for feedback, both positive and negative. She's been honest enough to say she's not been able to keep up with demand and has apologised for that.
It's time for everyone to take a step back now I think. Let's just keep the thread to discussion about the product and service, good or bad.
Thanks!

I placed an order at the beginning of February and it took 6 weeks to arrive so subsequently missed Mothers Day and a birthday I had wanted them for.
I did email TGF and she responded, and got them out to me within 48hrs.
I have to say that they are absolutely gorgeous and I would pay far more than she is currently selling them for. Personally I think TGF is pricing too low (yes, I know this is a money saving site) but they come beautifully packaged and that alone must add some considerable cost. They make lovely gifts (or treats) and are very unusual and the people I gave them too were amazed and delighted.
Would I order again? Most definitely although I would do it well in advance of when I needed them for.0 -
I'm so excited to get mine! I am in no hurry, and have told TGF and to me, the fact that they are homemade, and unique, will be all the more worth while for waiting for it to arrive.Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
